I went to school with Smokie back in 1992 or 1993 at University of Arkansas. He may or may not remember this, but I have a testimony for him. He had been singing and we were sitting outside in front of the Student Union and I asked him, "Smokie, you sing so well, why don't you get a singing contract?" He said to me and I quote, "I am working on it. Warner Bros. wants to sign me on, but they want me to pay for my own studio time." I said to him, "That is not cool, but it will work out." He turned and looked at me and said, "Yeah, I'm not gonna take it, I will just wait on God to send me something better." That was it, I said goodbye to him and he said goodbye to me and I went on to class. It was a really nice day outside too. Smokie graduated after that and I never saw him or heard from him again. I don't think that I even thought about him until my sister called me one day while I was in Japan teaching school to ask me if I remembered him and I told her what transpired between us and my sister said. "Well he did, he waited on Him because he has a number one Cd." I was so happy for him and I couldn't believe it. At that moment I wished that Smokie and I had been good friends so that we could both recount that memory. He was a good person and his wife was who was his girlfriend at the time was really sweet too. He's a Kappa and if I remember correctly, she is an AKA.

I never thought that I would meet Smokie Norful or see him in concert but when he came to Omaha Ne Our pastor blessed us to go. I was so thrilled to go to a gospel artist concert. The whole night was amazing Smokie Norful is a annoited powerful singer and i absolutely felt the glory of God. What promted me to write this was that he inspired me that no matter who you are around or where you are if you just worship the Lord then god will bless you more then you know. Smokie has blessed me and I would go to his next concert in a heart beat. Thank you Smokie Norful

I really like his voice and it sing like an angel
