October 3rd, 2011 9:27am EDT
Dave Grohl
Rocker Dave Grohl has reportedly turned documentarian to chronicle the history of the studio where he recorded Nevermind with Nirvana over 20 years ago

REO Speedwagon star Kevin Cronin has revealed news of the project to ArtisanNews.com, hinting he'll be a part of the untitled Sound City Studios film.

He explains, "Dave is working on this project based on a studio that we all used to work at. It's really interesting. I probably shouldn't be talking about it... but it's very cool. They (Nirvana) recorded Nevermind (there), and I know that it meant a lot to a lot of artists."

Nirvana's Iconic 'Nevermind' Turns 20

September 24th, 2011 11:00am EDT
Nirvana's Nevermind turns 20
The album "Nevermind" was never meant to change the world, but you can never predict when the zeitgeist will hit, and Nirvana's second album turned out to be the place where alternative rock crashed into the mainstream.

This wasn't entirely an accident, either, since Nirvana did sign with a major label, and they did release a record with a shiny surface, no matter how humongous the guitars sounded. And, yes, "Nevermind" is probably a little shinier than it should be, positively glistening with echo and fuzzbox distortion, especially when compared with the black-and-white murk of "Ble...

Late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain dreamed of opening his own petting zoo, according to a new book about the history of grunge.

Journalist Mark Yarm gathered anecdotes about Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Mudhoney, among others, for his tome "Everybody Loves Our Town: An Oral History of Grunge" - and one fact from Cobain's record label boss Bruce Pavitt really stands out.

The Sub Pop Records co-founder tells Yarm, "He (Cobain) was a sensitive guy who really liked kids and animals. I remember the first time I visited his apartment, he had, like, three different cages of gerbils. I got the impressio...

City officials in Kurt Cobain's hometown have rejected a motion to have a bridge named in his honor amid fears the tribute will memorialize the tragic rocker's drug use.

Fans of the Nirvana frontman recently petitioned councilors in Aberdeen, Washington to see if they would favor the renaming of Young Street Bridge over the Wishkah River and a nearby pocket park to Cobain Bridge and Cobain Landing.

But on Wednesday, City Council members officially voted against the bridge proposal because many believed the act would send out the wrong message and invite negative comments about Aberdeen.

The 'Forever 27 Club' has become more than a legend since the dawn of music recording. As it turns out, some of music's most influential artists who were taken from us much too soon all parted with the living at age 27. Is it a coincidence or a curse?

The latest 27-year-old to "join" this exclusive club is Amy Winehouse, who died Saturday at her London home. No one knows why or how yet, but initial speculation - most likely based on her past - is that drugs and/or alcohol were somehow involved.

Well, they played a big part in the deaths of these other stars who preceded her "in the club."...
