Bobby Brown's New Edition bandmate Johnny Gill has urged his pal's critics to back off as he continues to mourn the death of his ex-wife Whitney Houston, reminding them he has a teenage daughter to look out for.

The singer has come under fire for performing with New Edition hours after Houston's death on February 11 and many of his harshest critics have blamed Brown for the drug problems that plagued his former wife in the last decade of her life.

Despite reports to the contrary, Gill insists Brown's marriage to Houston wasn't all temper tantrums and drug issues - and he feels the media s...

Bobby Brown Talks About Drugs, Whitney, & More On 'Behind The Music'

September 25th, 2009 1:42pm EDT
Bobby Brown
By now, it is clear to see the recurring theme in the episodes of "Behind The Music." The last 3 episodes have shown that the artists' downfalls revolved around drug use and hitting rock bottom because of it. And by the looks of it, next week will hold the same cards when the fourth episode features Bret Michaels; and we know how much Bret likes to party as told by his VH1 reality show "Rock of Love With Bret Michaels."

On the last episode of "Behind The Music," Bobby Brown took his seat in front of the camera to talk about how drugs caused his life to take a turn for the worst. He also...

CMT's 'Gone Country' Is Surprisingly Entertaining

February 11th, 2008 9:35am EST
Dee Snider
"Gone Country," a show in which mostly washed-up singers are resurrected as country stars, is the first show, to my knowledge, on CMT that I've watched in its entirety. I wouldn't call myself a country fan by any means, and at first glance this didn't seem like an appealing show at all. That was until I saw the lineup of goof balls that they had enlisted:

Dee Snider: He's the cross-dressing front man of Twisted Sister whose last major hit was over 20 years ago. I "met" him once in Chicago. He was going through a revolving door with me. I threw some metal horns at him with my hand...

Starpulse Looks Back At Favorite Boy Bands

December 20th, 2007 10:01am EST
N Sync
Some boy bands dance and sing while others sing and play their own instruments. Whichever type of boy band you prefer, there definitely have been a number of first-rate and very popular ones to entertain us over the years.

One cannot mention the term 'boy band' without having the Backstreet Boys come to mind. Formed in 1992, the group gave us such danceable hits as 'Everybody (Backstreet's Back)' and other sultry tunes like 'Quit Playin' Games (With My Heart)' and 'I Want It That Way.' In October 2007 the group released their sixth album. While member Kevin Richardson may no longer be ...

Check Out Newcomer Sterling Simms' 'Nasty Girl'

April 19th, 2007 11:00pm EDT
Sterling Simms
Choosing classic soul auteurs Teddy Riley, New Edition and Brian McKnight as musical inspiration could have been imposing for some, but in the case of newcomer Sterling Simms the truth is in the grooves. Like the missing link between new jack swing and the current R&B scene, Sterling's debut disc is a welcome detour from the usual scenarios laid down by his contemporaries.

"My main goal while constructing my album was to create a different kind of soul album," the Philadelphia native explains. "I wanted to capture diverse sounds that I once jammed to on the radio when I was a kid." T...
