EMI's Family Of Artists And Songwriters Raise $940,000 To Support Japanese Red Cross Disaster Relief Efforts

An auction of exclusive personal items and memorabilia donated by EMI’s family of artists and songwriters has raised $940,000 in funds to help the Red Cross support people affected by last month’s earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

The charity auction, which launched on eBay’s worldwide sites on April 5, attracted bids totaling $470,000 from music fans around the world. All the money from winning bidders will be doubled through a donation by EMI.

Soul singer Aaron Neville has wed his photographer fiancee in an intimate ceremony in New York.

The star exchanged nuptials with Sarah A. Friedman in front of a small group of guests at a Big Apple restaurant on Saturday.

And Neville, 69, celebrated life as a married man by serenading his new wife at the reception with a rendition of his hit ballad Pledging My Love, reports People.com. The couple met in 2008.

The newlyweds are reportedly honeymooning in the exotic Turks & Caicos.

Kat De Luna's rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner has topped a new online list of the most awful National Anthem performances ever.

The singer hit the low notes when she belted out America's patriotic tune at a 2008 Dallas Cowboys football game - and now her take on Francis Scott Key's poem put to music has been named the Worst National Anthem Performance by Billboard.com.

The poll was compiled to coincide with the Independence Day weekend. Editors call the Dominican star's attempt at the anthem "a spectacular failure."
