R&B star Ne-Yo has spoken out to clarify his comments which suggested Chris Brown had been treated unfairly by U.S. authorities, insisting the troubled singer has made "serious mistakes" and he is "paying for them".

The So Sick hitmaker was caught on camera by TMZ.com talking about Brown's ongoing legal troubles as he awaits trial on an assault charge.

Ne-Yo thinks Chris Brown is unfairly being held up as an example.
The 'Closer' hitmaker is angered by his fellow R&B singer's treatment by the US justice system and believes he has been deliberately targeted and shown little mercy because of his celebrity status.
Chris is currently in a Virginia jail awaiting trial for an assault charge, and stands accused of breaking Parker Adams' nose when he tried to insert himself in a photograph the singer was taking with two female fans outside the W Hotel in Washington D.C. last October.

Singer Ne-Yo has taken a bite out of reports he walked away from an $800 (£533) meal without settling his bill.

Bosses at Manhattan nightspot Negril claimed the Monster hitmaker and a group of pals enjoyed food and drinks at the eaterie last month (Oct13), but walked away without paying.

The venue's manager even followed Ne-Yo to a nearby club to recoup the cash but the bill has still not been paid - and now the star has shrugged off the claims by insisting he's too wealthy to try to get a free meal.

The 'Let Me Love You' hitmaker reportedly racked up £500 in food and drinks for himself, manager Jayvon Smith and a group of 10 friends at New York City eatery Negril earlier this month, but failed to settle the sizeable balance.
A source told the New York Daily News: "Ne-Yo came in with Jayvon Smith, a group of girls, some guys and a bodyguard. He was ordering all this stuff and he kept asking people what they want, and kept the drinks coming."

The rapper reportedly popped the question to his reality star girlfriend - with whom he has four-month-old daughter North - with the help of a 50-piece orchestra who played Lana Del Rey's 'Young and Beautiful', before the band serenaded Kim with Kanye's chart-topping hit 'Knock You Down', which also features Keri Hilson and Ne-Yo on record.

R&B singer Ne-Yo has been caught up in legal trouble with his ex after allegedly breaking their confidentiality agreement.

The "So Sick" hitmaker initially believed he fathered a child with his former lover Jesseca White and he turned over $575,000 in custodial support in 2009.
