N.O.R.E. Severs Ties With Def Jam

Rapper N.O.R.E. has severed all ties with record label Def Jam, insisting it's time to move after canceling his contract.

The hip-hop star had a tumultuous relationship with Def Jam, which saw the label refuse to release a completed studio album, and N.O.R.E. accusing label bosses of failing to support his subsequent Reggaeton LP N.O.R.E. y la Familia.

He tells AllHipHop.com, "I love Def Jam and every bit of history that we have together, but it's time to move on. I'm fully on my own and I want to be my own boss."

Latino rapper N.O.R.E. has appeared in a New York court to defend his friend Darryl Henderson, claiming he knew nothing about his pals alleged background as a gang member. Henderson and two other members of the Bronx street gang, Murder Unit, stand accused of killing three men near the Yankee Stadium in January 2002 and stealing 66 pounds of cocaine worth more than $500,000.
