Pharrell Williams wanted to quit solo work after debut album disappointment

Hip-hop hitmaker Pharrell Williams wanted to quit his solo career after the release of his debut album In My Mind, because he was not a fan of his own work.

The N.E.R.D. star, one half of superproducing duo The Neptunes, branched out on his own in 2006 and the rap project reached number three in America's Billboard 200 chart, even earning him a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album.

But Williams claims he was disappointed with his efforts when he reflected on the quality of his lyrics.

Hip-hop superstar Pharrell Williams is opening his own youth center in his native Virginia to provide youngsters with an outlet for their creativity.

The N.E.R.D. rapper/singer has recruited renowned architect Chad Oppenheim to create a modern tree house-style space in Virginia Beach that local youngsters can escape to and receive support in nurturing their artistic talents.

Samantha Ronson To Guest Star On '90210'

The producers of 90210 have confirmed that Samantha Ronson, the celebrity deejay and on-and-off again girlfriend of Lindsay Lohan, has filmed an episode of the CW show.

Ronson’s scenes take place in a club where hip-hop star Pharrell and his group N.E.R.D. also perform. Her role also has her advising the character, Navid, played by Michael Steger, on matters of the heart.

There is no word yet on whether or not Ronson will be return to the famous zip code for another stint. Her episode will air the CW on Nov. 3.

Pharrell Williams' hip-hop trio N.E.R.D. were forced to cancel concerts in Indonesia this weekend after they were detained by Malaysian authorities for failing to gain the correct performance permits.

The Everybody Nose hit-makers - comprising of Williams, rapper Shay Haley and producer Chad Hugo - performed at the Sunburst KL International festival in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, before heading to the city's airport to fly to neighboring Indonesia. Jay-Z, Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson and the Foo Fighters are among the artists to be nominated for the 2008 Vodafone Live Music Awards.

Rapper Jay-Z and Dave Grohl's band Foo Fighters are battling it out for Best International Act, along with N.E.R.D. and Kings Of Leon.

Winehouse has been shortlisted for the Best Female Award and will be fighting against Welsh soul star Duffy, rapper Estelle and British singer Kate Nash for the honor.

Hip-hop star Pharrell Williams is to become a dad, according to reports. The N.E.R.D. singer/rapper is reported to have been dating an unnamed model, after meeting her several months ago in Miami, Florida. And the couple is now said to be expecting a baby.

A source tells New York gossip column PageSix, "(The model) is very pregnant and travels with him.

"She hangs out at the backstage area when he performs.

"Pharrell is extremely private and won't release any details."

Pharrell Plans Innovative Tattoo Removal

N.E.R.D. star Pharrell is planning on spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on a new treatment to remove his many tattoos.

The rapper-turned-producer is sick of the body art he has on his arms and has signed up to undergo a new method of erasing them - which involves scientists growing skin grafts in a lab. Kanye West Pulls North Dakota Gig

Rapper Kanye West has been forced to scrap a forthcoming concert in North Dakota, citing a hectic travel schedule for the cancelation. The "Stronger" hitmaker is currently on the road with N.E.R.D., Rihanna and Lupe Fiasco as part of his highly-acclaimed Glow In The Dark Tour.

But the hip-hop star has now pulled Sunday's gig at The Fargo Dome.

West is due to play in his native Chicago, Illinois on Saturday, and Winnipeg, Manitoba in Canada on Monday.

Reports also suggest the live date suffered from low ticket sales, which was part of the reason for scrapping the date.

Rapper Kanye West will launch a star-studded tour later this year when he hits the road with support acts Rihanna, N.E.R.D. and Lupe Fiasco.

Pharrell Williams pretended to break up his rap group N*E*R*D to scare bosses at his record label Virgin.

Earlier this year, the rapper/producer claimed he and Chad Hugo had dismantled the group.
