Phish, My Morning Jacket, Gov't Mule Play Tributes For Lou Reed

The song may have been in the band's repertoire since Halloween of 1998, but on Sunday night Phish opened their show at Hartford, Connecticut's XL Center with a bittersweet, yet rousing rendition of the Velvet Underground's "Rock & Roll" in tribute to late music legend Lou Reed.

Reed passed away earlier in the day due to complications stemming from a liver transplant he had back in May.

Following the eleven-and-a-half-minute epic, frontman Trey Anastasio asked the crowd for a moment of silence for "one of the greatest artists who's ever lived."

Legendary singer/songwriter Bob Dylan has announced that he's set to hit the road along with Wilco and My Morning Jacket on a summer tour.

The 26-date AmericanaramA festival of Music kicks off in West Palm Beach, Florida, at the Cruzan Amphitheatre on June 26 and wraps August 4 at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, Calif.

Rage Against The Machine frontman Zack De La Rocha is planning a series of concerts to protest Arizona's controversial state immigration laws.

The outspoken rocker is spearheading the Sound Strike campaign aimed at prompting touring acts to boycott Arizona until state officials agree to repeal the new law, which requires local authorities to determine a person's immigration status if he or she is suspected of being undocumented. Jim James of My Morning Jacket will be sidelined for a while due to health complications related to pneumonia. My Morning Jacket will unfortunately have to cancel an upcoming show on New Year's Eve as well as their European tour that was to begin on January 18th, 2006.
