October 25th, 2014 8:00pm EDT
10 Darkest Musical Personalities
No matter how warm and fuzzy a song like Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” makes everyone feel on the inside, not all musicians have the same optimism and ‘good vibes’ of the multifaceted musician. Some find their best inspiration in dark things – blackness, the grotesque, and sometimes the hellish (cue the sound effects now!). The definition of ‘dark’ is broad, and all 10 of the ‘darkest’ musicians that grace this list possess their own style. What they all have in common is, they are known for their intensely dark musical personalities.

1) Marilyn Manson

Boy, oh boy! Phew, could anyo...

Guitarist Ray Toro tells Noise11.com, "Back in L.A. we just got a studio so we're kind of building that out and basically trying to make a compound where we can be creative and be there whenever we want to be. That's the tough thing doing records in a cycle and you have three or four m...

Coheed and Cambria Year of the black rainbow review
It's difficult to judge Coheed and Cambria by any kind of conventional standards, because the genre of emo/prog/space rock is pretty much only inhabited by them. Yes, they have influences and you can stretch for comparisons, but they're pretty alone in their own little niche.

Year of the Black Rainbow is the band's fifth disc, but it comes first in the story of Coheed and Cambria, the parents of the story's protagonist, Claudio. Casual fans can overlook the details of the sci-fi plot but still get excited for the catchy choruses. Hardcore fans will want to buy the deluxe version of the alb...
