The Monkees Announce Fall Tour; Won't Replace Late Davy Jones

Michael Nesmith, Micky Dolenz, and Peter Tork return to the concert stage this November for a historic, twelve-date tour of the United States. These performances will mark their first concerts together since 1997. The jaunt kicks off at Escondido's California Center for the Arts on November 8 and wraps at New York City's prestigious Beacon Theater on December 2.

British boy band One Direction have denied they've been lined up to star in a Monkees-style TV show, blaming confusion over an upcoming awards ceremony.

The What Makes You Beautiful hit-makers were rumored earlier this month to have signed up to front a new comedy program on children's network Nickelodeon.

However, singer Louis Tomlinson has played down the reports, insisting the confusion stems from their planned appearance at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards next month.

The Monkees star Davy Jones spent his final moments with his beloved horses inside his riding stables.

The British-born I'm a Believer hit-maker died suddenly of a heart attack at his Florida home on Wednesday, aged 66.

Early reports suggested Jones passed away peacefully in his sleep; however the singer's representative, Helen Kensick, has now spoken out to set the record straight.

She tells TMZ.com, "Jones died after spending a happy family weekend with his wife, Jessica Pacheco, and her family riding horses. There was no sign of illness or of anything being wrong."

The Monkees star Micky Dolenz has been left "bewildered" by the death of his band mate Davy Jones because the star was the youngest and healthiest of the group.

Davy Jones -- lead singer of The Monkees -- has died ... TMZ has learned.

An official from the medical examiner's office for Martin County, Florida confirmed with TMZ they received a call from Martin Memorial Hospital informing them that Jones had passed away.

Jones is survived by his wife Jessica and 4 daughters from previous marriages. He was 66-years-old.

Jones joined The Monkees in 1965 ... along with Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork ... and together they churned out a bunch of hits including, "Daydream Believer, "Last Train to Clarksville" and "I'm a Believer."

The Monkees have confirmed they are reuniting to tour the U.K. for the first time in 12 years.

The "I'm A Believer" hitmakers sparked rumors of a live comeback last year when singer Davy Jones announced he was in "talks" with fellow original bandmembers Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork about hitting the road.

Now a spokesman for the legendary '60s band has confirmed they are to play 10 shows in Britain in May, including a concert at London's prestigious Royal Albert Hall.

Drummer Earl Palmer Has Died At The Age Of 84

Earl Palmer
R&B drummer Earl Palmer has died at the age of 84. The New Orleans-native died Friday at his Los Angeles home after fighting a lengthy illness, according to his spokesperson.

Palmer was known as a music pioneer amongst his peers, recording backbeats for classics including Little Richard's Tutti Frutti and The Righteous Brothers' You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'.

His talents have also been featured in music tracks for Ike and Tina Turner, jazz great Fats Domino, The Monkees, Neil Young and Frank Sinatra.

Palmer was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000.
