The 10 Most Epic Lip Sync Fails

The 10 Most Epic Lip Sync Fails
Why is it that we just love when a celeb makes a complete and utter fool of themselves, particularly on live television? Lip synching is a tender topic among musicians. Many admit to hating it, but give up when it comes down to a perfect performance or a mediocre one. Many rely on it to sound exactly like their prerecorded track. Still, some are so void of any real talent that they use it as a crutch to get through the performance. Do you recall any of these epic lip sync fails?

Chris Brown's Billboard Performance Is Latest Music Lip-Sync Blunder

May 22nd, 2012 1:07pm EDT
Chris Brown
Chris Brown is taking plenty of heat from fellow musicians for miming a song on stage at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards. P!nk tweeted about the performance, "one day if i lipsync (sic), i hope i do it as well as him..." But he's far from being the first caught for not providing vocals live.

At the BET awards in 2007, 50 Cent was caught when his track played an instrumental version of his hit Amusement Park. That sounds correct, but apparently 50 Cent thought he wouldn't have to rap that night, so the crowd was treated to the beat without any words... and a wondering, awkward 50 Cent.

Milli Vanilli Planning A Comeback With Eminem's DJ

July 5th, 2011 11:30pm EDT
Milli Vanilli
Milli Vanilli singer Fab Morvan is prepping for a career comeback with a little help from Eminem's DJ.

Morvan and his now deceased pal Rob Pilatus found international fame during the 1980s with their pop act Milli Vanilli and even won a Grammy Award for Best New Artist.

But the duo's reputation was tarnished following a lip-syncing controversy.

Now Morvan is making a return to the industry which shunned him and this time he has teamed up with Not Afraid hitmaker Eminem's right hand man, The Alchemist.

The Alchemist, real name Alan Daniel Maman, tells TMZ.com, "I'm working on a joint wit...

Hollywood’s Best Kept Secrets
Sandra Bullock shocked everyone in April when she revealed in People that she had adopted an infant son in January – before the Oscar win and before her split with soon-to-be-ex-husband Jesse James. How did Bullock manage to keep a secret of that magnitude that long, given that she and James started the adoption process in 2006? Seriously, how does any celebrity keep any secret for any long periods of time? Well, it does happen. Here are seven other best-kept secrets Hollywood has to offer.

Milli Vanilli, The Real Story - 20 Years Later

February 1st, 2010 1:34pm EST
Milli Vanilli
Twenty years ago in 1990, Fab Morvan won what now very well may be the most controversial Grammy Award ever given out. His group Milli Vanilli was given the Best New Artist award. Months later, when it was admitted that Morvan and partner Rob Pilatus weren't the ones who sang on hit songs like 'Blame It On the Rain' and 'Girl You Know It's True,' their Grammy was taken back and the media and music industry chewed them up and spit them out just as fast as they built them up. Now, two decades after that tumultuous year, PopEater had the chance to chat with Morvan about those rocky days, and w...

'Behind the Music' Returns to VH1 - What Are Your Favorite Episodes?

April 9th, 2009 10:00am EDT
Behind the Music
Last month, VH1 announced plans to revive its iconic series, "Behind the Music," this summer. The network has ordered 10 new episodes which will focus mainly on newer artists, including Lil Wayne and Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots/Velvet Revolver.

This news got me thinking about my favorite installments from the series, so I'd like to submit this list of the Top 10 BTM episodes for your approval and/or ridicule. As always, a list like this is entirely subjective and will, hopefully, spark some spirited discussion.

10. Heart

This episode may not have the classic "rock bott...

Turn Up the Music, Tune Out the Business

July 15th, 2008 9:00am EDT
In Rainbows
Notice: that song bumping out of your stereo is a product, you a client. You are not a fan; you are a customer. You do not enjoy the music so much as you consume it as the business of it all consumes you. Your radio, boombox, iPod, they are nothing but a digital car lot, and Clive Davis, Damon Dash, and Tommy Mottola are nothing but salespersons. Hear that bass? It does not thwump your knees in a two-step rhythm; it pumps them forward, out the door and into your local record store. "Buy! Buy! Buy!" cries the chorus. "Buy! Buy! Buy!" wails the guitar. Buy, buy, bye integrity.

Defining Greatness: The One-Hit Wonder Scale

February 26th, 2008 11:14am EST
Vanilla Ice
Probably the most underrated term in the music industry is the "One Hit Wonder." Popularized in the 80s, one hit wonders are either regarded as artists with one hit (like Deee-Lite’s "Groove is in the Heart"), or artists who produced a song that everybody knows (like "Turning Japanese" by The Vapors).

However, the truth of the matter is that one hit wonders actually come in many shapes and sizes. There are hits that are huge one day and laughable the next, there are hits that are mildly spectacular at first but ultimately propel the careers of the artists who recorded them, and there a...

Coming Soon: A Milli Vanilli Biopic

February 15th, 2007 11:48am EST
Milli Vanilli
Has Hollywood officially run out of film ideas? According to Daily Variety, Universal Pictures is developing a film about fraudulent pop duo Milli Vanilli, who after selling millions of records were revealed to be models who lip-synced tracks recorded by anonymous studio vocalists.

Rob Pilatus and Fabrice Morvan of Milli Vanilli became the first act to ever be stripped of a Grammy award. The group was known for their pop-dance tunes such as "Girl You Know It's True," "Baby Don't Forget My Number" and "Blame It On The Rain."

In 1998, Pilatus died of a drug overdose.
