15 Celebrities Who Were Adopted
Kristen Chenoweth was adopted by a family in Oklahoma when she was five days old.

The singer/actress is a strong advocate for adoption and told Pop Tarts in 2010: “It always goes back to my parents who adopted me, who gave me unconditional love and self-esteem. I don’t think I’d be where I am without them.”

She also told Yahoo! Music: "I feel a lot of love from my mom and dad who adopted me. Maybe I would have had a very different life had I not been adopted but my parents have really helped shape who I am. I do things sometimes they don't agree with, but I'm their kid and they love me. I...

Liz Phair Considers Creating A 'Chickapalooza' Music Festival

6/22/2012 7:22pm EDT
Liz Phair
Singer/songwriter Liz Phair is plotting a new all-female touring music festival to take the place of the defunct Lilith Fair.

The provocative Why Can't I hit-maker was a big part of the Lilith Fair movement in the late 1990s but did not take part in the 2010 summer event, which was deemed a flop by many acts and promoters.

Canadian star Sarah McLachlan, who created the festival concept, in 1996 declared she wouldn't stage the Fair again following the disappointment of the previous year, but Phair insists the concept of female singer/songwriters performing together on tour is not dead.

An excerpt of the document, which was obtained by the Toronto Star, reads, "The sealers - like tobacco farmers and asbestos miners - need leaders to devise a practical exit strategy for t...

Sarah McLachlan has learned to "make light" of her divorce from husband Ashwin Sood and move forward with her life after spending years blaming herself for the marriage breakdown.

McLachlan separated from the Canadian drummer in 2008 after 11 years of marriage and is only now starting to open up about the painful split.

She tells Spinner, "Coming to terms with the fact that my marriage was a failure was devastating and very difficult. I blamed myself for a lot of things. It took me a very long time to get over it."

Matthew Perry
Matthew Perry's musical tastes have always set him up for ridicule because he loves mournful female singer/songwriters.

The "Mr. Sunshine" actor admits he has always been teased about his love for singers like Tori Amos and Sarah McLachlan.

He says, "If you're a woman and you're in any kind of emotional duress at all and you sing a song about it, I will buy it and listen to it over and over again. I got beaten up for this in school."

He reveals his first concert was Culture Club, adding, "If you're a boy, dressed as a woman in emotional duress, boy do I like you."

House Concerts: The Wave Of The Future?

1/25/2011 6:57pm EST
Susan Enan
It had been a while since I’d been to a concert. I’ve never been one for huge venues; rather than see U2 at the Xcel Energy Center, I’ve gravitated toward seeing Ingrid Michaelson at the Pantages or The Swell Season at the Orpheum.

But I’d never been to a concert in a stranger’s living room.

Let me explain. It's becoming more and more popular for up-and-coming artists to perform relatively inexpensive concerts in people's homes to gain exposure. Case in point: Susan Enan, a lovely British Songbird who prefers sitting at a keyboard next to a window air conditioning unit in a decades-old S...

Glee X-mas
There's still time for Christmas shopping and spreading the holiday spirit, why not enjoy it by loading up that iPod with some great holiday tunes? Spike your coffee with a little Bailey's Irish Cream or enjoy a Hot Toddy (not the Usher and Jay Z version, although we love that song too) put on your Yule tide shoes and take that mall by the antlers.

You may still encounter long lines, screaming children running away from Santa Claus and a crap-load of unruly holiday sweaters, but with your holiday playlist grooving in your ears, at least you can smile while doing so. Here are a few of our f...

This Week In Gossip!

9/13/2008 9:56am EDT
Kanye West
Rap superstar Kanye West and one of his bodyguards spent some time in the slammer this week, accused of attacking paparazzi surrounding them at LAX. I guess "accused" is the wrong word since gossip outlet TMZ has video of the beat down. Fans, never fear, Kanye and co. were released hours after the incident on $20,000 bail each. No word on whether they will be further prosecuted.

In a somewhat bizarre story on the celebrity dating scene, Kirsten Dunst is claiming she's met rumored beau, Justin Long, only once. HUH? In the interview with Harper's Bazaar, the starlet is quoted as say...

Return of the 70's Singer-Songwriter

4/4/2008 2:01pm EDT
Sheryl Crow
Successful singer-songwriters have spanned across the decades, but no era saw them flourish like the 1970s. James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Dan Fogelberg, Carly Simon, Jackson Browne and Neil Young (to name a few) were tearing up the airwaves. Their simple, thought-provoking melodies struck a chord with a Vietnam War-torn America and left an indelible mark on the modern music biz. Well, tune your radios and adjust your mp3 players, folks. The 70s singer-songwriter sound is back - with a whole new batch of artists.
