Taylor Swift 1989
Unsurprisingly, Taylor Swift debuts commandingly at #1 – shocker! The matter wasn’t if she’d hit #1, but just how much would the ubiquitous musician sell, particularly in a year where albums sales have sucked. What is most surprising is that Swift has the best week of her career, selling 1,287 million copies of 1989 its first week. Her previous two albums both sold over a million their first week, hitting with Speak Now moving 1.047 million and Red moving 1.208 million. Yep, Taylor Swift definitely rules the world – it’s been proven!

After previous having no platinum albums from 2014...

Taylor Swift's '1989' Leads Albums To Check Out: This Week in Mu
Cutting right to the chase, there’s one inescapable, gargantuan, and humongous juggernaut of an album being released this week, and it comes by way of Taylor Swift. Swift is the one to beat on an off-cycle Monday release date, when the majority of new releases are dropping. While it may be is Swift’s week, there are some other ‘brave souls’ releasing albums the same day. Here are eight albums to check out this week.

1) Taylor Swift, 1989 (Big Machine)

While it has yet to happen in 2014, it seems like a surefire bet that Taylor Swift’s highly anticipated pop album 1989 will give the...

28 Celebrities Who Use Stage Names
Many celebrities have changed their names before they hit it big, and for many reasons. Let's take a look at some of the biggest stars who didn't take their birth name to Hollywood.

Katy Hudson didn't want to be confused with Kate Hudson, so she took her mother's maiden name and became Katy Perry.

Oprah Winfrey's name is iconic, but it's not actually her real name. It's Orpha, after the biblical figure. However, so many people mispronounced her name while she was growing up that the mispronunciation stuck.

Barry Manilow was born Barry Alan Pincus. He took his mother's maiden name...

Barry Manilow had to cancel a concert in Utah on Friday due to illness, a day after high winds and lightning forced him to call off another show in Colorado.

The veteran singer was preparing to perform at the outdoor Red Rocks Amphitheater near Morrison, Colorado on Thursday when bad weather hit, so he delayed the start of the show to let the storm pass.

However, the weather only worsened, prompting officials to evacuate the audience and axe the show. Manilow, 70, subsequently took to his page to apologies, writing, "I am very sorry that the Red Rocks show had to be canceled....

Barry Manilow Rocks Rochester

Barry Manilow
For the near capacity multi generational crowd it was all too short; but the fans at the Barry Manilow concert in Rochester, New York Friday night were jovial and in full voice. The crowd that gathered in the Blue Cross Arena was in large part female, but there were quite a number of male fans…and children.

Manilow opened this show as he has nearly all his shows for over 40 years, with “It’s a Miracle”. Donned in black pants and shirt with a hot pink jacket spent the next hour and a half with two jacket changes as he performed some of his biggest hits and a few not so famous songs from h...

'American Idol' Recap: The Idols Improve With Lennon And McCartney

4/7/2010 9:42am EDT
The Idols Improve With Lennon and McCartney
There’s something I’ve noticed about this season of ‘American Idol’: A lot of cringes.

Those cringes come whenever we see who’s coming up next. Like in this scenario: Ryan says, “Up next it’s Casey James”. Instantly, there’s a shudder as we think of the boring mess he’s about to give us.

This feeling of unease goes pretty much down the line. Be it Tim, Katie, Aaron or Andrew, there are so many contestants whose impending performance is something you’d rather not see.

But tonight, many of those shudders were unfounded as a lot of the former bottom dwellers raised their game, turning in...

The traveling circus known as the first weeks of "American Idol" packed up its tents from eight audition sites and finally set up shop in Hollywood. The Kodak Theatre, home of the Academy Awards, played host to 147 hopefuls for another round of individual try-outs.
