'The Voice' Recap: Made-Up Horns, TV Themes And A Rugrat

9/25/2013 8:30am EDT
The Voice
With the "how's it going to be?!" of the premiere out of the way, The Voice is now focused on picking more artists for its four Season 5 teams. BFTV is dialed in to tell you who made the cut in the next two hours, and of course, what the coaches said and did to keep us in our chairs.

Things start with a little more chat between our coaches (with Christina saying what we've all been thinking: "Is it now called The Blake Shelton Show?") before we meet 16-year-old Jacquie Lee, who tells herself to "say hi to Adam" before her performance of Amy Winehouse's "Back To Black." While Adam likes the...

'The Voice's' Tim Mahoney Talks New Album - And New Class

4/2/2013 11:15am EDT
Tim Mahoney
While The Voice is going full steam ahead, one of BFTV's very first favorites from the series is moving forward in his career as well. Tim Mahoney - the season one member of Team Adam that Adam Levine infamously thought was a woman when listening to his blind audition - not only has a new album out, but is broadening his teaching career, too. BFTV recently caught up with Tim to get the dish on everything he has going on.

Tim dropped his newest album, Shine Through, earlier this spring following a handful of individual songs, including his playful TV experience-inspired track, "Hey Adam Lev...

Happy Birthday, Adam Levine!

3/18/2012 11:30am EDT
Adam Levine
Maroon 5 front man and The Voice coach Adam Levine turns 33 today. Naturally, I couldn't let that happen without saying something.

There's no doubt that Levine is a professional success. With Maroon 5, he's got a huge following around the world, three Grammy Awards, and an American Music Award, plus countless nominations. He made history last year as the first artist to crack the Billboard charts both as a group (with "Moves Like Jagger") and as a solo artist (guesting on the Gym Class Heroes hit "Stereo Hearts"). He's a coach on the show that broke American Idol's ratings dominance and,...

I'm sure you were all tuned in to the show's post-Super Bowl premiere, which scored big for NBC, delivering the biggest ratings for a non-sports telecast on any network in 6 years. 37.6 million people showed up to see the first round of blind auditions! Wow!

If you missed any of the action, you can catch up with my recaps of season 2 blind auditions, part 1 and part 2. We'll continue the blind auditions nex...

Top 12 Memorable Moments From 'The Voice'

2/5/2012 9:00am EST
The Voice
NBC's The Voice starts its highly-anticipated second season tonight. In its honor, here's a look back at the top 12 most memorable moments from the show so far!

There were a lot of moments to love from season one. Each of the show's thirty-two artists had at least one instance where we took notice of them, whether it was Elenowen confusing coach Adam Levine by being more than one person, or Nakia bringing the house down with his rendition of "Whataya Want From Me."

And that was just the stuff you saw on TV. From the artists to the coaches to the crew, these were the best people I've eve...

Brittany's 'The Voice' Blog: Catching Up With Season 1

The Voice
Here's the latest on and around NBC's The Voice: I look back on what each team from Season 1 accomplished after the show. Who had the best 2010?

What happened after The Voice ended? We know that the Top 8 artists went on a national tour and that a CD of highlights was released. The majority of the artists continued to actively perform across the country, and the coaches kept themselves busy with touring, new albums and Grammy nominations.

Behind the scenes, Christina Milian replaced Alison Haislip as the show's social media correspondent, and teams were expanded from 8 to 12 artists for...

Brittany's 'The Voice' Blog: Dia, Javier & New Video!

Dia Frampton
Here's the latest on and around NBC's The Voice: reviewing Dia Frampton's Red and Javier Colon's Christmas EP, plus new video from NBC and an interview with the man producing Cee Lo Green's next album!

In last week's edition, we celebrated the release of Dia's new album - and as promised, it's time to take a full look at Red.

Here are ten tracks that take full advantage of the Voice runner-up's unique sound and musicianship. Lead single "The Broken Ones" is still quietly haunting even though we've had the chance to hear it many, many times by now. The other songs show Dia's range, but t...

Brittany's 'The Voice' Blog: On Tour With Beverly McClellan

Beverly McClellan
Here's the latest on and around NBC's The Voice: finalist Beverly McClellan takes San Diego, a review of Casey Weston's new album, and a busy holiday season for your artists!

The day after Thanksgiving, Team Christina's Beverly McClellan arrived in San Diego to play a one-night showcase at the city's notable Anthology music venue, and graciously invited me along for the evening.

Located in the Little Italy neighborhood of downtown San Diego, Anthology has previously played host to significant names in the jazz world, including Oleta Adams, Brian Culbertson, and Boney James. The club has...

Commentary: The 5 Things I'm Thankful For In 2011

11/23/2011 11:00am EST
The Voice
With Thanksgiving tomorrow, many Starpulse writers are giving thanks for our favorite pop-culture moments. Here's what's on my list, from a reality show to a play that was all too real.

My list is a bit different from those of my colleagues. I've had a very blessed - and also very difficult - year that has had amazing highs and been marred by literally life-changing lows. When I look back on 2011, I'm not thinking just about things I enjoyed, but experiences and people that made a difference.

It goes without saying that I'd like to thank my loved ones and the doctors, surgeons, nurses, ...

Brittany's 'The Voice' Blog: Catching Up With...Tim Mahoney

9/27/2011 10:00am EDT
Tim Mahoney
Here's the latest on and around NBC's The Voice: I shine the spotlight on Minnesota native Tim Mahoney, the soulful singer whose talent got a huge boost when Adam Levine thought he was a girl.

Crowned the "King of Almost" on the series for his persistent attempts to make it big in the music business, Tim left his mark on The Voice instantly and by complete accident. His rendition of "Bring It On Home To Me" won over the front man of Maroon 5 in blind auditions, but Adam bashfully admitted that he turned around thinking that Tim was of the female persuasion. One of The Voice's most...

Brittany's 'The Voice' Blog: My Day At Season 2 Auditions

9/6/2011 10:00am EDT
The Voice
Here's the latest on and around NBC's The Voice: auditions for Season 2 wrapped last week in Los Angeles, and yours truly was there. Here's my audition-day dish.

It's been hard for me to talk about Season 2 auditions, because I haven't been at any of them (although Nakia did give some insight on the Houston round in a previous blog). That changed on August 30, when they arrived at the Los Angeles Forum. Now, I should note that this blog is going to be from the first person and not a news report...because I wasn't there to cover the auditions. I was there to audition.

I can tell you what...

'The Voice's' Tim Mahoney Debuts New Single (Video)

7/30/2011 7:46pm EDT
The Voice artist Tim Mahoney has released his first single since appearing on the hit NBC series - and fittingly, it's dedicated to his coach, Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine.

Appropriately titled "Hey Adam Levine," the new song focuses on Mahoney's experience on The Voice, with his sense of humor on display throughout.

In the middle of the chorus is a good-natured joke about the now-infamous blind audition in which Levine mistook Mahoney for a woman based solely on the sound of his voice. "You thought I was a chick," he sings, "but guess what, I have a..."

Mahoney sounds like he'd like t...

'The Voice': Five Things I'll Miss

6/28/2011 10:00am EDT
The Voice
NBC's smash hit The Voice ends its first season this week, and I, for one, am bummed. Over ten weeks I've found many reasons to call this show my favorite on television. As we get ready to crown a winner and say goodbye (for now), here's a list of the five things I'll miss most about The Voice.

5. Learning to love songs I used to loathe. The show has finally made me "get" why everyone else loves music so much. I've gone from the person who had little more than a passing interest, to somebody who is counting down the days (twenty-six) until I get to see one of my new favorite bands in con...
