MC Hammer files legal papers to block U.S. tax officials collecting alleged debt

Rap veteran Mc Hammer is taking legal action against U.S. tax officials in a bid to block them from collecting funds for an outstanding bill he insists has already been paid.

The U Can't Touch This hitmaker, real name Stanley Burrell, was named in court papers in December (13), when authorities at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) asked a judge for permission to garnish his earnings to settle an invoice relating to 1996 and 1997, when he and his wife Stephanie failed to submit income tax payments.

MC Hammer has taken to Twitter.com to protest his innocence following his arrest in California on Thursday.

The U Can't Touch This hit-maker was apprehended at a shopping center in Dublin, northern California, and cited for obstructing an officer in the performance of duties and resisting an officer.

Veteran rapper MC Hammer donated his time to charity on Wednesday as he toured poverty-stricken areas of California to distribute food to the needy.

The "U Can't Touch This" hitmaker arranged for food trucks to deliver goods to Sacramento, Stockton, Merced and Oakland and he made sure to travel to each city to meet and greet locals as they picked up supplies for the holidays.

The hip-hop star took to the streets of Oakland to join the crowds who shut down the city's cargo port as part of an ongoing protest against corporate greed.

Rapper and technology entrepreneur MC Hammer is launching his own search engine website.

The "U Can't Touch This" hitmaker, real name Stanley Burrell, has spent two years developing WireDoo and he announced the new venture at the Web 2.0 summit in San Francisco on Wednesday.

He told convention attendees his new initiative would prove to be better than market leader Google - thanks to a "deep search" ability.

Flavor Flav, Ice Cube, MC Hammer, Bobby Brown and Lil Jon will join Charlie Sheen at the Insane Clown Posse's four-day rap and wrestling festival in Illinois next month.

Sheen announced he'd be among the presenters in an excited tweet on Wednesday, and now the full line-up has been announced.

Sheen and Flav will co-host the music and wresting event, dubbed the Gathering Of The Juggalos, while rappers Ice Cube, Lil Jon, Paul Wall and MC Hammer will join Bobby Brown on the bill.

Nineties rap star MC Hammer has been hit with a $61,000 lawsuit by a publishing company for allegedly failing to finish a book he had agreed to write.

Bosses at Simon and Schuster filed the lawsuit on March 05, seeking the return of a $61,000 advance handed to Hammer for the book Enemies of the Father: Messages from the Heart on Being a Family Man.

The publisher's spokesman Adam Rothberg claimed the book was due in 2003, but "we never received the manuscript".

Fallen rap stars MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice are to team up for a concert in Utah. The 90s stars will perform a one-night-only joint show, called Hammer Pants and Ice, at the McKay Events Center in Orem on February 27.

The track, which topped charts around the world in 2000, is number one in a new list compiled by editors of Spinner.com and AOL Radio. It beat off tough competition from rapper Vanilla Ice's memorable hit Ice, Ice Baby and a more recent chart success for Ricky Martin - She Bangs.

Olivia Newton-John's daughter has gone public with her childhood abandonment issues on a new reality show. Singer Chloe Lattanzi is among the celebrity offspring starring in Rock The Cradle and she used the MTV program to address her famous mom's absence from her early years.
