Lostprophets Singer Ian Watkins Sentenced To 35 Years In Prison Over Sex Offenses

Ian Watkins, the former lead singer for alternative rockers Lostprophets, has been sentenced to 35 years in prison folowing a slew of sex offenses, including attempting to rape a baby. He'll be released after 29 years, which will be followed by another six years "on licence," meaning there will be several conditions of his release that he'll have to comply with.

The 36-year-old singer was sentenced in Cardiff Crown Court in Wales on Wednesday for carrying out "sickening and incomprehensible" acts of child abuse, according to the judge, Mr. Justice Royce.

Britain's police watchdog group has launched an official investigation into claims cops in Wales ignored warnings from Ian Watkins' ex-girlfriend about his desire to abuse children.

The Lostprophets frontman appeared in court in Cardiff, Wales on Tuesday for the first day of his trial and pleaded guilty to a number of sickening child sex charges including attempting to rape a baby.

Watkins' former girlfriend has now spoken out in the aftermath of the Welsh singer's shocking admissions, claiming she notified South Wales Police of his perverted sexual appetites back in 2008.

Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins is facing child sex charges.

The 35-year-old rocker, from Pontypridd, Wales, has been charged with conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a female under 13 and possession/distribution of indecent images of children.

He was questioned at Cardiff Bay police station in his native Wales and is due to appear at a magistrates' court in the city on Wednesday.

Lostprophets Launches US Tour Later This Month

The Welsh rock band Lostprophets will return to the states in late August to begin a series of tour dates including headline club and theater gigs as well as an ongoing slot on the Finnish quintet HIM's "No Sleep Till Halloween" Tour beginning October 18.

The Lostprophets' latest North American tour comes in celebration of Liberation Transmission. Liberation Transmission entered the Billboard Top 200 bestselling albums chart at #33, mirroring the U.S. debut (also #33 in the Top 200) of Start Something in February 2004.
