You Must See These Terrible Album Covers!

March 5th, 2013 6:59pm EST
Are These The Worst Album Covers Of All Time?
Some singers and musicians just don't have much talent when it comes to having an eye for artwork.

Most of the time an album cover has a lot to do with sales, so imagery that's interesting, sexy, mysterious, etc., is always a good thing.

Take Miley Cyrus's 2013 release, "Bangerz", for example. The peach-to-purple color mix with two photographs of houseplants with a superimposed miley staring blankly at the camera looks more like something out of "Miami Vice" circa 1984 than a modern pop record. Throw in the neon "Bangerz" sign and it now looks like a newspaper promo for a south Florida st...

Kenny Loggins Won't Receive A Penny From 'Footloose' Remake

October 12th, 2011 8:01pm EDT
Kenny Loggins
Rocker Kenny Loggins has lost out on a windfall from the new Footloose movie - because he receives no royalties from the use of his hit theme.

Loggins recorded Footloose for the hit 1984 Kevin Bacon film and his 32-year-old song features at the beginning of the new remake. It's also covered by country star Blake Shelton in the film - but the hitmaker won't be receiving any cash thanks to a clause in the original contract.

He says, "It says that any sequels are covered in the original deal, so they consider this a sequel."

But Loggins is thrilled his song is back - and Shelton's cover sou...

'American Idol' Recap: Duets Are Great, Solo Performances Fall Flat On Movie Night

May 12th, 2010 9:25am EDT
American Idol
By now we all know this season of "American Idol" is a dud, and a few duets aren't going to save it.

But rather than belabor the point or add another column to the substantial list about how "Idol" may have officially gone over the hill this season (Last week's ratings were its lowest since season 1!) I'm going to give you chance to make a difference.

If you follow this link, you'll be taken to a survey where you can evaluate the season. This survey supposedly goes straight to the producers which means you could improve the show for next year which means we'll never have to suffer this t...

Top Ten 80s Movie Soundtracks

February 28th, 2008 12:27pm EST
Purple Rain
Starpulse recently ran a 'Top Ten 80s Albums' list, in which the inclusion of the Top Gun soundtrack inspired me to come up with a list of the "Top Ten 80s Movie Soundtracks." After doing a little 'freshening up,' both through my own personal collection, growing-up-80's memories and, oh, some website that has info about movies & music and the like, I've narrowed my list down to the top ten.

(And no, "Top Gun" didn't take my breath away and make it onto the list)

The main criteria used here is that only the film had to be released in the 80s, not the music contained on its soundtrack. I...

15 Memorable Music Scenes On Film

October 16th, 2007 10:08am EDT
William Shakespeare
As a film junkie and music geek I always look forward to seeing what songs directors will put in certain scenes to create the right mood. Finding the perfect song isn't always easy. The song has to fit that key moment or it could ruin the movie.

Following is a list of songs that have really made a movie scene stand out. I'm sure you will notice two things about me: I love chick flicks and 80's movies. This wasn't an easy task. I found over 50 songs and cut the list down to 15 with a few honorable mentions.

15) "Kissing You" by Des'Ree from the movie "Romeo + Juliet" (1996)
