Singer/songwriter Ray Kennedy dead at 67

Singer/songwriter Ray Kennedy has died, aged 67.

A member of Dick Clark’s American Bandstand house band, the multi-instrumentalist hit the road as a touring members of groups led by Dizzy Gillespie, Gene Krupa, Little Richard and Otis Redding.

He hit it big in the mid-1960s after signing a deal with Atlantic Records as half of the duo Jon and Ray.

Kennedy and partner Jon Misland worked with producers like Phil Spector and Arif Mardin, but failed to release an album.

Rock 'n' roll legend Little Richard is recovering after recently suffering a heart attack while at home with his family.

The Tutti Frutti singer, who turned 80 last year (12), reveals he was overcome with a coughing fit and started to feel a shooting pain in his arm and it was only after self-medicating that he started to feel OK.

His doctor later advised him that he had suffered a heart attack, and revealed that he saved his own life with his quick-thinking actions.

Rock 'n' roll legend Little Richard is considering retirement after declaring he "doesn't feel like doing anything now".

The Tutti Frutti singer almost collapsed during a rare show in Washington, D.C. last summer (Jun12) after falling ill during a gig at the Howard Theatre - and he hasn't performed since.

Now, after turning 80 in December (12), he feels the time is right to step back from the spotlight.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone magazine, he says, "I am done, in a sense, because I don't feel like doing anything right now."

Rock 'n' roll veteran Little Richard's childhood home is to be relocated to make way for the construction of a new highway in Georgia.

The Tutti Frutti hitmaker's former house in Macon was facing demolition by bosses at the Georgia Department of Transportation due to the planned expansion of Interstate 75, but now local officials have decided to spare the historical residence, built in 1920, by moving the two-bedroom home three blocks away, where it will be renovated and converted into a neighbourhood meeting place.

Music legend Little Richard struggled to contain his emotions as he was presented with an Honorary Doctorate from his hometown university on Saturday (11May13).

The Tutti Frutti singer, 80, wiped away tears as he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Humanities from chiefs at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia.

Steve Martin To Perform At U.S. Capitol On July 4th

Actor-turned-musician Steve Martin and his banjo band will help Americans ring in the Fourth of July by performing a concert at one of the country's most historic venues in Washington, D.C.

The Father of the Bride star and his group The Steep Canyon Rangers will perform Me & Paul Revere at the United States Capitol on Independence Day, according to the Associated Press.

Other singers scheduled for the A Capitol Fourth event include Glee star Matthew Morrison, American Idol winner Jordin Sparks, Little Richard, and You Raise Me Up hit-maker Josh Groban.

Drummer Earl Palmer Has Died At The Age Of 84

R&B drummer Earl Palmer has died at the age of 84. The New Orleans-native died Friday at his Los Angeles home after fighting a lengthy illness, according to his spokesperson.

Palmer was known as a music pioneer amongst his peers, recording backbeats for classics including Little Richard's Tutti Frutti and The Righteous Brothers' You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin'.

His talents have also been featured in music tracks for Ike and Tina Turner, jazz great Fats Domino, The Monkees, Neil Young and Frank Sinatra.

Palmer was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000.

Creedence Clearwater Revival founder John Fogerty will perform with rock 'n' roll greats Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis at the Grammy Awards on Sunday.

Tributes have poured in for late soul legend James Brown, who died on Christmas day. He was 73. The singer, dubbed the 'Godfather of Soul,' passed away unexpectedly in hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, after suffering pneumonia. He also had diabetes and prostate cancer which was in remission.

Legendary keyboard player Billy Preston has died after a lengthy battle with kidney problems. He was 59. Rock 'n' roller Little Richard is fighting back at reports he's in the midst of a health crisis after he was spotted being escorted through a Georgia airport in a wheelchair. The hitmaker, 73, insists he was simply feeling his age after a bout of the flu and needed assistance.

His publicist Gloria Boyce says, "He has pins in his leg from a bad car crash in the 1980s and it can hurt him in cold weather. It was cold in Atlanta and he caught the flu. So he asked an attendant to wheel him through the airport."
