Yoko Ono Grants John Lennon Song Rights To 'The New Normal' Season Finale

March 7th, 2013 6:43pm EST
Yoko Ono
Producer Ryan Murphy has scored a major coup for his hit TV show The New Normal after landing the rights to use John Lennon's highly personal track Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy) in the upcoming season finale.

The Glee creator reveals he reached out to Lennon's widow Yoko Ono, who owns the rights to The Beatles icon's back catalogue, in the hope of using the touching tune on TV - and he was stunned at how easy the whole process was, considering how selective Ono is about the projects she approves.

During a panel talk with the show's cast and crew at Los Angeles' Paley Fest, Murphy said, "W...

The sons of Beatles stars Paul McCartney, George Harrison and John Lennon are planning to team up to form a new supergroup.

McCartney's son James has revealed he has had conversations with Sean Lennon and Dhani Harrison and they appear to be "up for" picking up where their fathers left off.

But McCartney admits that Ringo Starr's drummer son Zak was less than keen: "I don't think it's something that Zak wants to do."

Sean Lennon & Rufus Wainwright Sing Madonna's 'Material Girl' For New York Protesters (Video)

Occupy Wall Street
John Lennon's son Sean hit the streets of New York with fellow musician Rufus Wainwright on Sunday to serenade the Occupy Wall Street protesters with an acoustic version of Madonna's Material Girl.

The singers became the latest stars to lend their support to the demonstrators campaigning against social inequality and corporate greed, and they put on an impromptu performance in Manhattan's Zuccotti Park, which has become a makeshift base for protesters.

Lennon and Wainwright were accompanied by a number of guitarists and an accordion player as they belted out the odd song choice.

Lady Gaga's Sheer Outfit Steals The Show At John Lennon Tribute

October 5th, 2010 11:06am EDT
Lady Gaga and Yoko Ono
Lady Gaga performed at a tribute show with Yoko Ono for the late John Lennon, but all anyone could talk about was the sheer outfit Lady Gaga wore on stage.

The dark one-piece seemed to conceal all, but with the right light - and once she turned around - it was very apparent it was meant to show off almost everything!

After the concert Gaga took to her Twitter.com page to tell fans about the show, posting a picture of herself posing with Lennon's son Sean, writing: "I got to sit in as a guest musician tonight, what a legendary band + mother, Yoko."

Lennon's widow organized three nig...

John Lennon's Last Note On Sale

September 12th, 2010 6:07pm EDT
John Lennon
A handwritten note John Lennon penned on the day of his murder has gone on sale for $154,000.

The Beatles legend was gunned down outside his home in New York City by Mark Chapman in December 1980.

The day before his death, Lennon had borrowed a guitar string from another band while recording at the Record Plant Studio in the Big Apple.

He returned the next day and gave an autograph to one of the studio's sound technicians, writing, "For Karl, who strung me along, thanx, John Lennon, 1980."

Lennon then returned to his home at The Dakota apartment block and was shot at the entrance.

Actors Who Could Play Musicians

July 13th, 2009 12:45pm EDT
Michael Jackson Johnny Depp
When it comes to film genres, music films are quite popular in Hollywood. With a little make-up here and there, contact lenses, or change of hairstyle, there a few actors we think would make perfect cast selections for the following musicians. Let us know if you agree.

Zoe Saldana / Beyonce

If she were to lighten her hair, we think actress Zoe Saldana would be just as fierce as miss "Sasha Fierce" Beyonce.

We think actor Johnny Depp has what it takes to pull off the latter part of Michael Jackson's musical life.

Albert Hammond Jr.'s Sophomore Album, 'Como Te Llama?' Due July 8

June 9th, 2008 6:32pm EDT
Albert Hammond, Jr.
Como Te Llama? is the new album from Albert Hammond, Jr. and cohorts Matt Romano, Marc Philippe Eskenazi and Josh Lattanzi, and will be released July 8th.

Following his feted 2007 solo debut Yours To Keep, Albert Hammond, Jr. and his merry men return with a new album Como Te Llama? (or "What's Your Name?" if your Spanish is a little rusty). The title, rung out of casual conversation between Albert and Matt over some vino tinto, hints at the classic, summery music held within.

The record was recorded over 5 weeks at Electric Lady Studios and produced by Albert along with engineer G...

NY Judge: Film Can Use John Lennon Song

June 3rd, 2008 11:18am EDT
Yoko Ono
NEW YORK (AP) - Yoko Ono lost her legal bid Monday to stop the playing of a 15-second excerpt of John Lennon's song ''Imagine'' in a film challenging the theory of evolution.

Lennon's widow had sued the makers of ''Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed,'' saying they used the ex-Beatle's anthem without her permission. Ono, who had sought a preliminary injunction before the movie gets a wider release, said she would appeal. The other plaintiffs were Lennon's sons, Sean and Julian.

U.S. District Judge Sidney Stein ruled that if the case went to court, the filmmakers would probably win u...

Considering Sore Subject Matter of 'Chapter 27,' 'Why?' is Only Plausible Reaction

April 22nd, 2008 11:10am EDT
Chapter 27
(Hollowoodchicago.com) – As a contemporary of the John Lennon assassination in 1980 and an ardent admirer of the late Beatle, I had a hard time figuring out the reasons for making the film “Chapter 27”.

Over the years, it has been difficult if not impossible to forgive Mark David Chapman for his wasteful act of murdering Lennon. So why relive the agony through an oblique film exercise and reference to “The Catcher in the Rye,” which is the novel Chapman was reading when captured by police after the shooting?

John Lennon's Family 25 Years After His Death

John Lennon
In the current issue of Newsweek, Senior Editor Jeff Giles takes a look at the lives of the family members John Lennon left behind 25 years ago and the turmoil that has plagued them since his death. "You know, this is like a Shakespearean drama almost," Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono, tells Giles. "Each person has something to be totally miserable about because of the way they were put into this play. I have incredible sympathy for each of them, really." She recalls one night when Lennon woke up crying. "So I said, 'Why are you crying, John?' And he said, 'If I die before you, those business bas...
