Thirty-five years ago today, John Lennon was shot four times in the back outside of the Dakota building in New York City by Mark David Chapman. The former Beatles singer turned solo artist was attacked at 10:50 p.m. with his wife, Yoko Ono. at his side. By 11:15 p.m., he was gone and the entire world would soon be in shock. Lennon's death ended an era of music, but his legacy has lived on.

The Beatles' animated classic Yellow Submarine has been digitally restored for a new DVD/Blu-Ray release.

The 1968 film, which has been out of print for years, will hit stores at the end of May.

Previously unseen pictures of the Beatles on holiday taken by an 11-year-old schoolboy are set to be sold at auction.

The musicians were snapped relaxing at a hotel in the British seaside resort of Weston-Super-Mare in 1963, just weeks after they scored their first U.K. number one single with "Please Please Me".

The photographer was Bruce Leak, then 11, who was on a family holiday with his parents at the time.

The pictures show the stars sunbathing, relaxing on deckchairs and having afternoon tea at the hotel.

A pair of free concerts will be held in the Beatles' native city of Liverpool, England to mark 10 years since the death of guitarist George Harrison.

The musician died of lung cancer on November 29, 2001 and the two gigs will take place on the upcoming anniversary of his death.
