5 Big-Time Rappers Whose Stock Needs A Lift

April 29th, 2014 10:30pm EDT
50 Cent
Sometimes artists go through a dry spell. In rap in particular, hotness just doesn’t last forever. I mean, wouldn’t LL Cool J still be a hot commodity commercially if that were the case (no shade LL, no shade)? Here, I have identified five big-time rappers who need good things to happen for them in the near-future/future. One or two names may be surprising, but there is a rationale for all five. Hear a bro out!

T.I.

Reason for being here: Inconsistent albums in the 10s; ‘less fire’ where rhymes are concerned

Man, how I hate to put T.I. on this list. The ATL MC is one of my favorites,...

LL Cool J Gives Brad Paisley Credit For Talking About Slavery In 'Accidental Racist'

April 10th, 2013 6:40pm EDT
LL Cool J
LL Cool J insists "Accidental Racist," his new song with Brad Paisley, was meant to "shake things up," and he is unphased by the controversy the tune has generated.

On Monday, critics accused the rapper and country star of trivalizing slavery with the song, which includes lyrics such as: "I try to put myself in your shoes and that's a good place to begin. Now my chains are gold but I'm still misunderstood. I want you to get paid but be a slave I never could... I'd love to buy you a beer, conversate and clear the air but I see that red flag and I think you wish I wasn't here."

Brad Paisley
The internet is buzzing about Brad Paisley's collaboration with LL Cool J on the new track "Accidental Racist." The tune details the tensions of the south and the rapper's experiences in New York City. Some don't like the song's "Southern pride" message.

The tune starts: "To the man that waited on me at the Starbucks down on Main, I hope you understand. When I put on that T-shirt, the only thing I meant to say is I'm a Skynyrd fan. The red flag on my chest somehow is like the elephant in the corner of the South."

The country star later sings: "I try to put myself in your shoes and that's ...

Taylor Swift beatboxed and LL Cool J sang during the Grammy Nominations last night - and it reminded us why LL Cool J sticks to rapping and Swift sticks to singing.

LL pleaded with Swift to beatbox while he sang her song Mean in front of the audience. "This is going to be terrible," she correctly predicts before laying down a beat in a manner that assures no one else will want to use her microphone. Meanwhile, LL Cool J sounded like he could have used some singing lessons.

Still, the audience squealed in delight, perhaps at the pure audaciousness of it all, or the fact it was all in good ...

The 2012 Grammy Awards will forever be remembered for one reason: the event took place the night after the music industry lost one of their biggest stars in an untimely fashion: Whitney Houston.

NCIS: Los Angeles has the potential to be something rare - the successful spinoff of a wildly successful spinoff of a successful TV series.
