Gladys Knight has always been my idol. I'd always felt "out-of-place" because I have such a deep voice for a female. But, when I was old enough to know who Gladys Knight was, I idolized my singing after her.
I've always wanted to meet Gladys Knight just to tell her how much I adore and admire her voice and that I'd like to one day sing like her. Unfortunately, I had the opportunity to meet her, years ago in Houston at what used to be known as “The Summit”, but she looked at me as if to say, “If you come one step closer!” and her body guard acted as though he would kill me if I tried to approach her. I attended the concert with a representative of Warner Bros. (WEA) and I asked him if I could meet her. He told me sure. So, when she came out, I attempted to approach her but that’s when her bodyguard came at me as though I was about to take my last breath. This was the most "devastating" thing for me to experience as a singer and an aspiring professional entertainer. I will never forget this incident and I will never forget her bodyguard. He was a fair skinned gentleman and wore his hair in a pony tail. This was back when Janet Jackson was doing her Rhythm Nation Tour.
Now that I’ve gotten older and the years have passed, I try not to think about it because she is definitely a “dynamic” singer. I still love her voice and would still like to get a chance to meet her and maybe even have her to critique my voice.

Gladys is one of the best singers there is, GORGEOUS,and a great role model (like I said about Patti Labelle).
