Albert KingBlues from the Road [Bonus Tracks] Release Date: 2003 07 15 Label: Fuel 2000 Records Rating: ![]() |
Recorded live at the 1975 Montreux Jazz Festival, Blues From the Road presents Albert King and his tight band, including a small horn section, in fine form. King pleases the crowd with a few of his most recognizable tunes: "Blues at Sunrise," "I'll Play the Blues for You," T-Bone Walker's "Call It Stormy Monday," and nine more tracks spread out over two discs. A few of these cuts wander off into serious jamming territory ("Jam in A Flat" clocks in at 15:47) with guest appearences by guitarist Rory Gallagher, Louisiana Red, and Lowell Fulson. While King fans will definitely want to pick up Blues From the Road, listeners unfamiliar with him should first check out Born Under a Bad Sign or Very Best of Albert King on Rhino.
