From the moody country tune &"Mira," with guest vocals by Amy Ray, to the sunny &"Make Me Please" and the cheesy but satisfying '80s keyboards on &"Air," Oregon is a far cry from Kaia's angry hardcore material with her one-time riot grrrl luminaries Team Dresch. &"Jasper" magnificently combines the rootsy songwriting of the Indigo Girls with an ear for early-'90s indie rock -- a pairing that best describes Kaia's music overall. These are subtle, emotional songs that unfold slowly to reveal a rich interior life.
