The surviving members of Nirvana paid tribute to late singer Kurt Cobain at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Brooklyn, New York, on Thursday by inviting several women of rock on stage to perform the band's classic songs.

Joan Jett sang "Smells Like Teen Spirit," Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon belted out "Aneurysm," St. Vincent sang "Lithium," and Lorde closed out the set with "All Apologies."

Cobain's mother, sister and his widow, Hole singer Courtney Love, joined drummer Dave Grohl and bassist Krist Novoselic on the podium at the Barclays Center to honor the grunge singer.

Former Kiss star Peter Criss used his induction speech at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame gala on Thursday (10Apr14) to remind people about the importance of regular breast cancer check-ups for both men and women.

The rock veteran was diagnosed with the disease more commonly associated with females in 2008 and was successfully treated within the same year, but he still had cancer on his mind as he stepped onstage at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York as part of the Class of 2014.

A Mexican music festival set to feature Kiss, Twisted Sister and Guns 'N Roses has been cancelled over safety concerns.

The Hell and Heaven Metal Fest was due to take place at a fairground in Texcoco, close to Mexico City, next weekend (15-16Mar14) and was expected to attract 70,000 to 80,000 fans with 50 acts slated to perform.

Kiss frontman Gene Simmons is set to make a cameo on top TV drama Csi: Crime Scene Investigation.

The Love Gun hitmaker will play himself on an episode of the crime show in March.

Rockers Kiss will be part of sports history later this month (Jan14) when they perform at the first National Hockey League game to be held outdoors in Los Angeles.

A New York home owned by former Kiss star Ace Frehley has been heavily damaged by fire after a blaze broke out at the property on Saturday (14Dec13).

The LA KISS will play their games at the Honda Center in Anaheim and next year's season kick-off will include a concert by Gene Simmons' rock band.
