The '12 Years a Slave' star is thrilled to have received a "shout-out" from the 44-year-old rapper - real name Shawn Carter - in his freestyle collaboration with New Orleans emcee Jay Electronica, 'We Made It.'
The Oscar-winning actress wrote on Twitter on Wednesday (04.02.14): "Dear Mr. Carter & Mr. Thedford, your shout-out made me screech with glee. Mad BK & NOLA love. #WeMadelt - LN @S_C_ @JayElectronica (sic)"

K'Naan Upset Over Mitt Romney's 'Waving Flag' Use

Rapper/singer K'Naan has hit out at presidential hopeful Mitt Romney for using his song in a campaign speech without permission.

K'Naan, real name Keinan Abdi Warsame, was not pleased after Romney played Waving Flag at an appearance in Florida on Tuesday, and admits he would never have given the Republican candidate his consent.

He says, "I have not been asked for permission by Mitt Romney's campaign for the use of my song. If I had been asked, I would certainly not have granted it."

Rocker Bono and Somalian rapper K'Naan joined forces in Minneapolis over the weekend to "sound the alarm bell" about the drought and famine spreading across Africa.

The philanthropic U2 star, founder of the global anti-poverty organization ONE, met with members of the local Somalian community with K'naan to hear their opinions about how best to deal with the crisis.

R&B superstar Alicia Keys helped raise thousands of dollars for an HIV/AIDS charity by headlining a benefit concert in Canada on Tuesday night.

The singer/songwriter was the star performer at the Hope Rising! event in Toronto, held in aid of the Stephen Lewis Foundation, which supports health groups dealing with the disease in Africa.

Rufus Wainwright, K'naan, Angelique Kidjo and Holly Cole also took to the stage, and Keys, who co-founded the Keep a Child Alive organization to provide medicine to families with HIV and AIDS, hopes the gig will help raise awareness of the disease.

Shakira shook her booty at the FIFA World Cup Kick-Off Celebration Concert in South Africa on Thursday. She dazzled the crowd in a feathered skirt and tight black and white top.

The 33-year-old Latin pop star recently said she wants to settle down and start a family after she completes her world tour.

Last night will.i.am, Shakira, and Fergie from The Black Eyed Peas joined an allstar line up at the FIFA World Cup Kick-Off Celebration Concert to promote education for all children in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Shakira shook her hips and danced for fans in a belly baring ensemble with a feather skirt. Fergie was more conservative in skinny white jeans, a black blouse and a colorful scarf.
