| They are the inspiration for bands such as U2, Nine Inch Nails, Incubus, Three Doors Down, Disturbed, Counting Crows, Oasis, Creed, Rage Against The Machine, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, The White Stripes, Velvet Underground, The Ramones, The Clash, The Buzzcocks, the Sex Pistols, Blondie, Elvis Costello and the Attractions, The Cranberries, The Pogues, Frank Black And The Catholics, Madonna ( That's right! Madonna), Black Flag, Wall of Voodoo, Linkin Park,...,et cetera. I must add that one runs, don ' t walk, to see the new biopic film "Control" directed by first time Dutch director Anton Corbijn. It is the story of the tragically brilliant and, often, catatonic Ian Curtis, the gifted frontman and sometimes guitarist for Joy Division. The movie gives a more human perspective regarding the mythic aura surrounding quite possibly was the most influential band and musician of his generation. Also, I forgot to add "Atmosphere" and "Shadowplay", two songs that could be considered Joy Division's signature songs, to my list of JD songs I like. | ||

| The individual who was closely associated with the Manchester scene and Joy Division and New Order that passed away this August 10th, 2007, of cancer is Tony Wilson, nascent creator of the punk scene in Manchester and visionary of the Factory music label with such bands as New Order, Joy Division, The Stone Roses, The Happy Mondays, Oasis and The Smiths, and inspiration for his portrayal of the music mogul in the film "24 Hour Party People" and part owner of the in club in Manchester "The Hacienda" nightclub. | ||
