Stars turn out for Phil Ramone memorial

Aretha Franklin, Billy Joel, Quincy Jones and Josh Groban were among the stars who came together in New York on Saturday night for a memorial in honour of late music producer Phil Ramone.

The producer and sound engineer died at the age of 79 on March 30, just weeks after he was hospitalised to treat an aortic aneurysm, and several of his famous friends gathered at the Salvation Army's Centennial Memorial Temple for a celebration of his life.

Lil Wayne alleges that Jones used songs from his album "The Carter IV" in an unauthorized documentary about him without getting his permission.

Iconic rockers The Eagles are to receive honorary degrees from Boston's prestigious Berklee College of Music.

The music school, based in Boston, Massachusetts, has awarded honorary doctorates to influential musical figures for over 40 years, with past recipients including Duke Ellington, Quincy Jones, David Bowie and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler.

This year's honorees are the Hotel California stars, as well as bluegrass singer Alison Krauss and Ethiopian musician Mulatu Astatke.
