Elton John & David Furnish Feel It Is Their 'Duty' To Marry

March 30th, 2014 2:27pm EDT
Elton John & David Furnish Feel It Is Their 'Duty' To Marry
Now that same-sex marriage is legal in the UK, singer Elton John and David Furnish "feel it is their duty" to get married. In 2005, they were one of the first gay couples to enter into a civil partnership.

The couple has two sons Zachary, three, and Elijah, 14-months, together.

Furnish told Attitude magazine: "Elton and I will marry - as a high-profile couple, we feel it is our duty to do it, to make sure that everyone knows that this is something that many gay men living in this country never dreamed would happen. When it was announced that gay couples were able to obtain a civil partner...

The 51 Best Albums Of 2013 - What Made Your List?

December 30th, 2013 6:00pm EST
Daft Punk
Ranking the very best albums of any year is incredibly difficult; there are always misses. 2013 was filled with some triumphant musical moments, though not all of their parent albums were necessarily ‘worthy’ of being considered the best of the year. Because of various factors, this list has its surprises and like any album reviewed, its triumphs and flaws. One thing’s for sure – the top ten to fifteen albums are pretty close to the cream of the crop from my perspective. Here are the 50 (+1) best albums of 2013!

'Almost Human' Review 1.3: Change Of Face

November 26th, 2013 10:08am EST
Almost Human
You can tell a really good series from just an ok series by the way a non-game-changing episode plays:  if it provides a wallop and a jolt and a laugh even in a business-as-usual episode then it's a really good series, even a great series.   So I was pleased to see how good Almost Human 1.3 was.

The decisive way the good guys get the drop on the bad guys is by Kennex using a change-of-face device, but there's lots more.   Dorian getting shot in the head and Kennex doing emergency work on Dorian's purple circuits - in all kinds of shades - and making it stick with a piece of what passes for...

28 Celebrities Who Use Stage Names
Many celebrities have changed their names before they hit it big, and for many reasons. Let's take a look at some of the biggest stars who didn't take their birth name to Hollywood.

Katy Hudson didn't want to be confused with Kate Hudson, so she took her mother's maiden name and became Katy Perry.

Oprah Winfrey's name is iconic, but it's not actually her real name. It's Orpha, after the biblical figure. However, so many people mispronounced her name while she was growing up that the mispronunciation stuck.

Barry Manilow was born Barry Alan Pincus. He took his mother's maiden name...

The 20/20 Experience: 2 of 2
As I look over my 2013 playlist from my iPod, I realize I have listened to numerous albums this year.  In fact, the amount of music that my ears have consumed and my pen has analyzed is pretty scary…and I still missed lots of albums! SMH! Some were special, some made me cringe, and some fell somewhere in between the two extremes.  As difficult as it was, as of October 7, 2013, I have compiled a list housing my favorites, least favorites, and honorable mentions.  I’m almost certain I’ve slighted someone and I’m sure there will be continual revisions, but for now, here’s what you should’ve sp...

Review: Elton John 'The Diving Board' - Elton John Doesn't Miss A Beat On His Latest

October 3rd, 2013 2:30pm EDT
Elton John 'The Diving Board
When I hear the name Elton John, one of the first words that comes to mind is legend (piano too, but we’ll stick with legend for our purposes).  Elton John was certainly a gargantuan presence in pop and rock music back in the day. That might be an understatement within itself.   Sure, his days of being a commercial fixture are long past, but where many new artists lack musical longevity, John will always remain musically relevant.   That’s part of the reason why his first solo album in seven years, The Diving Board, is kind of a big deal.  Sure, there is no “Candle in the Wind” or  “Philade...
