Celebrity Predictions For 2009

January 3rd, 2009 11:04am EST
Britney Spears
The global economy is on its knees, the war in Iraq is still raging, and global warming is apparently getting worse. Hardly the best way to start off a new year, is it?

But death and destruction has never had too much of an impact on the showbiz world - that is, unless the California wildfires suddenly send the Hollywood Hills up in flames (God forbid).

Nothing would be more shocking than seeing Amy Winehouse ‘do a Britney’ and chop off her trademark beehive in a drink-and-drug fueled night of disaster. Or squeaky-clean Miley Cyrus getting caught up in a sex tape scandal...

August 25th, 2008 2:07pm EDT
Jodeci
Fans were outraged at a recent Jodeci reunion concert after one bandmember failed to show and another - singer JoJo - collapsed onstage in the middle of a song.

The R&B trio was forced to perform as a twosome after founding member Donald DeGrate apparently pulled out, leaving brothers Cedric and Joel Hailey - who perform together under the name K-Ci and JoJo - to take the stage at Enmore Theatre in Sydney, Australia on Saturday.

Revelers booed and threw bottles at the stage as the duo seemingly forgot song lyrics and, at one point, even sat down.

The gig was thrown into furth...

Check Out J. Holiday's First Single, 'Bed,' From New CD 'Back Of My Lac,' Due October 2

July 2nd, 2007 1:24pm EDT
J. Holiday
Capitol Records' new R&B crooner J. Holiday debuts his first single, Bed, from his forthcoming album Back of My Lac, due in stores October 2. Bed was written by The Dream and Tricky Stewart, the pair responsible for Rihanna's Umbrella.

There are no mirrors or tricks here, no sleight of hand. When J. Holiday talks earnestly of "following my dreams" and "being in love with music," it's not a deliberately sympathetic portrayal by a partial writer. In fact, J.'s talent is matched –in rarity and intensity—only by his enthusiasm. His candor and vulnerability are refreshing, given the static,...

January 8th, 2007 3:49pm EST
J. Holiday
"My sound is old school soul with a little mix of hip-hop," explains J. Holiday. "If I had to give it a name I would call it 'street soul.' Nowadays the 'hood has little to listen to within R&B. I want my music to be the soundtrack to their lives and beyond."

J. Holiday doesn't pull any punches when he offers his take on the current state of R&B. "Rhythm and Blues is lacking storytellers right now," insists the candid 22-year-old singer/songwriter. Holiday then pauses, name checks the late legendary singer Otis Redding as if to show his soul credentials and asks, "Where's our generatio...
