Keith Jarrett was born on May 8, 1945 in Allentown, Pennsylvania and is a classical and jazz pianist and composer. Jarrett's style draws from traditional jazz, gospel, the blues, and folk music. Jarrett was exposed to music at an early age in the gospel churches of his hometown, by the age of 3 he embarked upon piano lessons, and by the time he was 5 years old he was appearing in talent shows. His television debut was the talent show hosted by the swing bandleader Paul Whiteman. At the age of 7, Jarrett gave his first piano recital, playing the work of Mozart, Bach, and Beethoven.
