Jamelia Niela Davis (born on 11 January 1981), best known mononymously as Jamelia, is a British singer-songwriter, model, entertainer, television presenter and actress. She is most famous for her use of a cappella and prolific work in the R&B genre. She has released three studio albums, each of which has reached the Top 40 in her native UK, which collectively have spawned eight UK top ten singles. In addition, Jamelia has won four MOBO Awards, a Q Award and has received nine BRIT Award nominations.

Jamelia began her professional music career at eighteen years old, signing a recorcd contract with Capitol Records and releasing her debut single "So High" which failed to chart, leading her to be dropped by Capitol. However, a year later; Jamelia signed a record deal with Parlophone, which would go onto last until 2007, before she left the label. Releasing her second single, but her debut single with Parlaphone, "I Do" was released and charted at number thirty-six on the UK Singles Charts. Further singles were released, "Money" which became her first top ten hit, charting at number five on the UK Singles Charts and her debut album ''Drama'' which charted inside the UK Top 40, at number thirty-nine.

It wasn't until the release of "Superstar" in 2003 that Jamelia began achieving notable success. The song, which became her second UK Top 10 single at that point, charted at number two on the UK Singles Charts and was fairly successful worldwide too. Her second album ''Thank You'' which was released in 2004 was also a success, where it charted at number four on the UK Album Charts; becoming her first, and last to date top five album in the United Kingdom. She followed up the success of ''Thank You'' with 2006's ''Walk With Me'', which charted at number twenty on the UK Album Charts, only selling 100,000 copies in the UK and being certified Gold in the United Kingdom, whereas ''Thank You'' became a Platinum certified disc in the UK. However, in addition, the album produced two UK top 10 singles "Something About You" and "Beware of the Dog" and "No More" which stalled in the charts and charted at number forty-three, despite much radio play in the United Kingdom.

In 2010 she signed a new record deal with All Around the World Productions who also look after artists such as; Lisa Maffia, Dannii Minogue, Cascada & N-Dubz. She is expected to release her new album in late 2010/early 2011, which is to be called ''Rebel''
