“He moves the temple of his body and the chimes of his ego sound in the breeze of our awe. He is on fire, is a panther in Astaire's weightless heaven. He prowls, growls, howls. Then, suddenly, that intergalactic smile. Jesus, what a smile! He wants us for his moonbeams.” –Melody Maker’s review of Michael’s Wembley Stadium appearance during his 1997 HIStory World Tour.

As Zack Greenburg points out in his new book, Michael Jackson, Inc., at the time Michael was working on “Invincible”, “recording directly to computers became the standard, opening the door to nearly limitless options for sound manipulation.” And in Zack’s discussion with Matt Forger about this, Matt points out that “Having more options and more possibilities doesn’t reduce the time that you invest in something. It actually increases the time that you invest in something. So consequently, things just grew.” Michael worked on Invincible for 3 years. What is your favorite song from Invincible?

“I always want to do music that inspires or influences another generation. You want what you create to live.” ¬This quote by Michael Jackson in 2007 helped inspire the forward thinking spirit that the producers of Xscape had in mind as they were taking some of Michael’s best and most complete unreleased music and making it feel as new, as current, as fresh as if Michael was still with us. “The beauty of Chicago is in the sounds that you don’t hear out front, it’s in those ambient sounds that just make it feel…tall. Like there’s something going on way up there, and way down there…and you won’t capture all this stuff in the first listen. This is a headphone album.” – L.A. Reid discussing “Chicago”. Behind the scenes: "It was easier just to play the music and let them go – either dance or play basketball. It was so loud that they couldn't really talk, so they had to let the music tell them how to behave." – “Jam” video director David Kellogg on the MJs on set.

“On many an occasion when I am dancing, I have felt touched by something sacred. In those moments, I felt my spirit soar and become one with everything that exists. I become the stars and the moon. I become the lover and the beloved. I become the victor and the vanquished. I become the master and the slave. I become the singer and the song. I become the knower and the known. I keep on dancing and then, it is the eternal dance of creation. The Creator and the creation merge into one wholeness of joy. I keep on dancing — until there is only ... the dance.” – Michael Jackson, inlay sleeve on Dangerous
