Heavy rockers Iron Maiden have been treated to an out-of-this-world experience with a special visit to the famous NASA Space Center in Texas.

The musicians, who kicked off their Final Frontier Tour with a show in Dallas, Texas on June 9th, used their time in the state to accept an official invitation to tour the facility in Houston. The band was given a guided tour by astronaut Michael J. Massimino and were able to get up close to one of the space shuttles and take turns on the institute's flight simulator.

Rockers Kiss took a moment to "remember" late heavy metal legend Ronnie James Dio during a concert in Geneva, Switzerland on Monday, leading fans in a 30-second chant of the singer's name.

Frontman Paul Stanley halted the show to pay his respects, and told fans, "Let's remember to remember him. Let's make sure he can hear us up there." Stanley then led the chant, "Ronnie, Ronnie..." before adding, "We love ya, we'll miss ya."

Metallica's "Master Of Puppets" has topped a new list of heavy metal albums. The group's 1986 release beat Iron Maiden's "Number of the Beast" and "Appetite For Destruction" by Guns N' Roses on the joint and Metal Hammer magazine poll.

Ironically, the results have been released on International Noise Awareness Day.

More than 6,000 heavy rock fans took part in the vote, with 20 per cent of them picking "Master of Puppets" as the top album.

Heavy metal legends Iron Maiden have abandoned plans to quit after their next album, insisting they'll keep rocking well into old age. Just last year, bassist Steve Harris suggested the group was close to disbanding, and that band members would walk away after the next release.

Rockers Iron Maiden are planning to bring their recent world tour to the big screen with a major movie documentary.

Iron Maiden: Flight 666 - The Movie will feature footage from the group's 2008 Somewhere Back In Time Tour which saw them play 23 shows across the world in 45 days.

The picture will show frontman Bruce Dickinson fly the band between dates on their customized Boeing 747 jet, christened Ed Force One after the band's graphic mascot, Eddie.

The film will be released in cinemas worldwide on April 21st.

Rockers Metallica are desperate for an upcoming band to "steal their thunder" and knock them off the top of the charts.

Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson laid on a special treat for British troops serving in Afghanistan - he flew a group of Royal Air Force (RAF) pilots back to Britain for their annual leave.

The rocker - who is a qualified pilot - was behind the controls of a Boeing 747 jet chartered to transport the servicemen back to their native U.K. on Sunday.

Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson proved his zero tolerance to drugs - by scolding a fan for smoking marijuana during one of the band's gigs.

Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson has co-written a horror movie which will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in France. The "Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter" singer teamed up with director Julian Doyle to pen the script for Chemical Wedding, which stars Simon Callow as reincarnated occultist Aleister Crowley.
