Billy Idol To Make His Return With New Album And Book Deal

Punk rock pioneer Billy Idol is set to explode back onto the music scene with his first new album in eight years and a tell-all book charting his rise to fame.

The Rebel Yell singer has revealed he is about to start work on a new record, his first album of original material since 2005's Devil's Playground, and he hopes to release it next year.

The 57 year-old rocker Billboard.com, "We're building up to make a new album in the autumn. I've been gradually putting new songs together... It's as easy and as difficult as it's always been.... I still find it really exciting."

Rocker Billy Idol fulfilled his promise to perform at a fan's 26th birthday party on Friday, taking to the stage in a Seattle, Washington club for the special concert.

Michael Henrichsen launched a campaign to get the Rebel Yell hit-maker to perform for him and his pals as part of his 24th birthday celebrations in 2010, but Idol failed to show.

After continued calls for the star to perform for Henrichsen, Idol agreed to stage a concert for the birthday boy at the Showbox on Friday - and the fan was left overwhelmed at the one-off show.

Billy Idol has made one lucky fan's dreams come true by agreeing to perform at his birthday party in Seattle, Washington on Friday.

EMI's Family Of Artists And Songwriters Raise $940,000 To Support Japanese Red Cross Disaster Relief Efforts

An auction of exclusive personal items and memorabilia donated by EMI’s family of artists and songwriters has raised $940,000 in funds to help the Red Cross support people affected by last month’s earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

The charity auction, which launched on eBay’s worldwide sites on April 5, attracted bids totaling $470,000 from music fans around the world. All the money from winning bidders will be doubled through a donation by EMI.

Late comedian Sam Kinison fathered a lovechild, according to DNA tests obtained by a friend who has been paying child support for the girl for years.

The funnyman, who was joined by rockers including Steven Tyler and Billy Idol in his 1988 novelty cover of The Troggs' Wild Thing, died in a car crash in 1992.

Now his pal, comic Carl La Bove, is claiming Kinison slept with his wife more than 20 years ago and fathered a child with her.

Veteran rocker Billy Idol has become the latest big name rumored to be in the running to replace Steven Tyler as frontman of Aerosmith. The band revealed they will be hosting auditions to find a new member while Tyler takes a hiatus, with guitarist Joe Perry insisting the star won't be ready to tour with them until he recovers from a recent stint in rehab and a series of operations.

Lenny Kravitz was the first singer linked to the role, but admitted he would never take over from Tyler, while reports have also suggested former Queen star Paul Rodgers.

The British record company that handles David Bowie, Billy Idol, Blondie and Leonard Cohen's back catalogues is up for sale for a staggering $300 million.

The independent Chrysalis Group, courted in the past by major labels including Warner Music, has hired an investment bank to help it attract a prominent buyer.

Billy Idol has stunned his diehard fans by ditching his punk image to record an album of classic Christmas songs. The rocker croons a selection of songs including "Frosty The Snowman," "Winter Wonderland" and "Santa Claus Is Back In Town" on festive CD "Happy Holidays."
