''Do You Wanna Ride?'', the debut album from singer Adina Howard, was released on February 28, 1995 through East/West Records. Upon the album’s release, Howard received criticism from some feminist groups for the album’s cover artwork, which they felt was needlessly provocative and sexist. Howard, however, made no attempt to play down the overall impression of raw, licentious sexuality, and the various videos released to promote the album were equally suggestive and erotic. A successful single, "Freak Like Me", was later covered by Tru Faith in 2000 (reaching number 12 in the UK) and by the Sugababes in 2002 (reaching number 1 in the UK). The album was certified Gold by the RIAA on 6/21/95. To date, "Do You Wanna Ride?" has sold over 1.3 million copies.
