Hot TunaLast Interview Release Date: 1978 Label: Grunt Rating: ![]() |
Breaking up just as you release a new live double album is not the most astute of career moves, but Grunt/RCA tried countering the commercial difficulty Hot Tuna presented them in the spring of 1978 by pressing this promotional album, subtitled "A Live Hot Tuna Radio Classic." In addition to interviews with band members, it included material from the new Double Dose and Jefferson Airplane's After Bathing At Baxter's, as well as part of "Hesitation Blues" from the notorious "typewriter tape" of guitarist Jorma Kaukonen backing Janis Joplin. The interviews offer no hint of the band's split, although obviously it came soon enough after they were conducted that the album title could refer to it. William Ruhlmann, All Music Guide
