Tragic Nirvana star Kurt Cobain is to be honored by fans in Hoquiam, Washington, with a tribute concert on Saturday. Bands from Seattle and the surrounding area will perform Nirvana tunes at the memorial, which is being held to raise money for a youth center and memorial park in Cobain's name. Pianist Bruce Hornsby is Broadway bound after landing a commission to pen music for a new show, tentatively titled SCKBSTD.

The Way It Is hitmaker and frontman of The Range is collaborating on songs for the musical with pal Chip DeMatteo.

He tells Billboard.com, "We're just starting on the long road towards actually realizing this.

"The streets are littered with greater songwriters than I who have stiffed on Broadway, so I don't hold out any great expectations and high hopes. But it's potentially very exciting."

Bruce Springsteen's music will be honored in an all-star tribute gala concert at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Performers will include Jewel, Chris Isaak, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, the Bacon Brothers (actor Kevin Bacon's duo), Steve Earle, Bruce Hornsby, Josh Ritter and Pete Yorn.

Each artist will perform one of the singer's tunes during the Springsteen Tribute fundraiser to benefit Music for Youth, an initiative that supports music education for underprivileged youth.

The all-star gala concert will be held on April 5.

Bruce Hornsby is celebrating the 20th anniversary of his breakthrough debut album with the 5-disc box set, “Intersections 1985-2005.” The collection arrives as Bruce Hornsby and his band The Noisemakers are in the midst of their 2006 summer U.S. tour.
