Matt Hires was born August 5, 1985 and is a singer-songwriter from Tampa, Florida. Hires rose to prominence in the Tampa-based rock group Brer. In 2007 he caught the attention of Atlantic Records A&R executive Gregg Nadel, who signed Hires to the Atlantic Records subsidiary F-Stop Records.

Hires’ debut EP, “Live From the Hotel Café,” was released in 2008. The EP contained three live performances at the Hotel Café in Los Angeles and one demo track.

2009 marked the release of Hires’ debut album. “Take Us To The Start,” which spawned the singles, “Honey Let Me Sing You A Song” and “You In The End” which featured a guest vocal by co-writer Sara Bareilles. The album reached #96 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart

His next album, “This World Won’t Last Forever, But Tonight We Can Pretend,” was released in 2013.
