American rockers The Higher have stunned fans by announcing the departure of guitarist Tom Oakes over "personal and creative issues."

The guitarist was the founding member of the former five piece, and Oake admits he is "shaken" by his decision to quit the band. However The Higher insist they will carry on without Oake and continue with a planned U.K. tour later this year.
