Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett is positive the band will be back in the studio in the coming weeks as they have "run out of excuses" to delay work on a new album.

The Enter Sandman hitmakers last released a full-length album in 2008 with Death Magnetic, and fans have been clamouring for their 10th studio record ever since.

The heavy rocker teamed up with eyewear stylists at Sutro to create his limited-edition sunglasses frame, simply called Hetfield.

Metallica have reached out to fans in India after their concert debut in the country was scrapped, insisting they are "deeply disappointed" with the cancellation.

The band was set to headline the F1 Rocks concert in Uttar Pradesh on Friday but organizers at event management company, the DNA Entertainment Network, postponed the gig until Saturday due to "technical problems."

The rock group called off a planned concert at the Leisure Valley Park in Gurgaon on Friday, putting the cancellation down to "technical problems" and safety concerns after fans pushed through a barricade.

Metallica To Headline Indian Formula One Concert

Metallica are to play their first show in India.

The heavy rockers will headline the upcoming F1 Rocks concert in Uttar Pradesh on October 28 - two days before the inaugural Indian Formula One Grand Prix.

More than 30,000 fans are expected to pack into the Leisure Valley venue for the show and Metallica can't wait for the gig.

A statement from the band reads, "We're so excited to be playing a show in a place we never thought in our wildest dreams we'd get to play."

Previous F1 Rocks concerts in Brazil and Italy have been headlined by Eminem and Jamiroquai, respectively.

Metallica have issued a statement in a bid to get to the truth of a story suggesting a little girl was kicked into the audience at a recent concert in Australia.

The youngster, who is the daughter of the band's stage manager, took a tumble after guitarist Kirk Hammett accidentally kicked a beach ball at her and knocked her off balance.

Police in Bogotá, Colombia failed to prevent riots at a Metallica concert on Wednesday night - more than 100 fans were arrested after violence erupted outside the venue.

Israeli fans of Metallica have won their bid for cheaper tickets after staging a boycott of the group's May 22 gig in Tel Aviv, Israel.

The man behind the Ramat Gan stadium show - the band's first concert in Israel since 1999 - upset fans when he announced all tickets for the gig would sell for upwards of $159.

And more than 500 Metallica-mad music fans committed to boycott the concert as part of a Facebook.com campaign.

Virginia police officials have released new information about a Metallica fan that went missing after the group's show in Charlottesville two months ago in the hope that the update will prompt new leads.

Metallica frontman James Hetfield has donated a massive area of his Marin County, California estate to conservation groups. The Marin Independent Journal newspaper reports the move effectively forbids anyone from building on or developing over 300 acres of land overlooking the Lucas Valley.

The Marin Board of Supervisors has unanimously accepted the donation.

Metallica frontman James Hetfield has blamed a dodgy oyster for his illness that forced the group to scrap a Swedish show over the weekend.

The rockers were due to perform in Stockholm on Sunday, but 16,000 waiting fans were left disappointed when drummer Lars Ulrich took to the stage to announce they would not be playing - citing a mystery illness suffered by Hetfield as the reason for the cancellation. Metallica's new album Death Magnetic was written as a tribute to tragic Alice In Chains rocker Layne Staley. Frontman James Hetfield admits the central message of the record is that people should come to terms with the inevitable prospect of death.

Metallica have just premiered the video for their single "The Day That Never Comes" on their MySpace page. The epic clip was directed by Danish director Thomas Vinterberg and filmed this past July in southern California.
