Sade Returns After 10 Years With 'Soldier Of Love', Out Feb. 9

January 28th, 2010 5:36am EST
Sade
"Soldier of Love" is only the sixth studio album the band Sade released during their 25 year career, and the first since "Lovers Rock" in 2000. For Sade herself, as the lynchpin of the group's songwriting effort, it's a simple matter of integrity and authenticity. "I only make records when I feel I have something to say. I'm not interested in releasing music just for the sake of selling something. Sade is not a brand."

The call went out in 2008 for the group to re-convene at Peter Gabriel's Real World studio, near Sade's home in the countryside of south west England. It was the first tim...

Songs We Never Want To Hear Again On 'American Idol'

January 27th, 2009 10:04am EST
American Idol
With the countless amounts of songs floating around out there, and with more and more artists allowing American Idol to use their music, why are some of the show's contestants content to trot out the same old songs that have already been done to death? And why do some Idol hopefuls insist on choosing songs that are all wrong for their vocal range or style?

Check Out J. Holiday's First Single, 'Bed,' From New CD 'Back Of My Lac,' Due October 2

July 2nd, 2007 1:24pm EDT
J. Holiday
Capitol Records' new R&B crooner J. Holiday debuts his first single, Bed, from his forthcoming album Back of My Lac, due in stores October 2. Bed was written by The Dream and Tricky Stewart, the pair responsible for Rihanna's Umbrella.

There are no mirrors or tricks here, no sleight of hand. When J. Holiday talks earnestly of "following my dreams" and "being in love with music," it's not a deliberately sympathetic portrayal by a partial writer. In fact, J.'s talent is matched –in rarity and intensity—only by his enthusiasm. His candor and vulnerability are refreshing, given the static,...
