'Once' Stars Split

The Oscar-winning actor/songwriters who fell in love for real on the set of Irish independent movie Once have split.

Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova played a busker and an immigrant who bond over their love of music in the 2006 movie. The pair became a couple in real life, and melted hearts at last year's Academy Awards when they collected the Best Original Song award for their duet Falling Softly, taken from the movie's soundtrack.

'Once' Is Broadway Bound

Hit movie Once is set for a revamp - as a stage musical. The film, which earned stars Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova a Best Song Oscar for "Falling Slowly," is to be adapted for Broadway by award-winning producers John N. Hart, Jr., Jeff Sine and Fred Zoll.

The new production will bow in New York during the 2010/2011 season.

R&B hunk Usher has scored U.S. pop chart history by claiming the third-largest jump to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in history. The "Yeah!" hitmaker has stormed to the top from number 51 with his new hit "Love In This Club," which features Young Jeezy.

Melissa Etheridge Was Oscar Winner's Good Luck Charm

Melissa Etheridge turned out to be a lucky charm for Once star Marketa Irglova after a chance meeting in the days before the Oscars. Irglova and partner Glen Hansard's "Falling Slowly" was the surprise winner of the Best Song category at the Academy Awards on Sunday - the honor Etheridge won in 2007.

And the Once star knew she was in for a chance of winning the award after meeting Etheridge in a restaurant last week.

Irglova says, "I asked, 'Can I hold the hand that won last year?' It was a very amazing moment for us."

Irish singer/songwriter Glen Hansard and his Once co-star Marketa Irglova served up the first big surprise at the 2008 Oscars by beating Alan Menken's three Enchanted nominations to claim the night's Best Song.

The duo's Falling Slowly tune left Hansard stunned and fighting back tears as he struggled with his acceptance speech.

The humbled star said, "We made this film two years ago, we shot it on two handy-cams, it took us three weeks to make, we made it for 100 grand and we never thought we'd come into a room like this and be in front of you people... This is amazing."
