9/14/2012 3:37pm EDT

Just this year the mother of three teenagers has been on a world tour, involved with three albums, and appeared in a film. And if that isn’t enough to make you tired…there’s another album in the planning stages.

Last March Gray released “Covered” – an album of 15 cover songs that span the gambit of genres and artists from the Eurhythmics to Kanye West. Later this year Gray will be releasing a new album that celebrates the 40th anniversary of the Stevie Wonder album “Talking Book”....

Macy Gray Battles Bronchitis On Seal Tour

Macy Gray
Singer Macy Gray is hoping to return to the stage to support Seal in Cohasset, Massachusetts on Friday night after bronchitis forced her to scrap a show in Connecticut on Wednesday.

The "I Try" hitmaker was just about to go on and fight through the pain of a sore throat when a doctor urged her to scrap the show at Foxwoods MGM Theater and rest up.

She pulled her band offstage and apologised to fans for the late cancellation.

But she's determined the show will go on after a full day's rest and she hopes to sing tonight.

A statement from her management reads: "She's been to the doctor aga...

Macy Gray feels so tormented about agreeing to perform concerts in Israel next month, she has taken the unusual step of asking her fans whether she should cancel the gigs or not.

The I Try hitmaker is scheduled to play a series of shows in Tel Aviv, but she has come under pressure from activists to axe the concerts as part of a boycott over the lengthy Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Gray took to the internet on Monday to ask for advice, writing in a post on, "I'm getting a lot of letters from activists urging/begging me to boycott by NOT performing...

Review: 'For Colored Girls' Would Have Been Better Suited For The Small Screen

11/3/2010 10:00am EDT
Four Colored Girls
A good movie either needs the big screen, the big budget, or big stars to be worthy of an audience as large as Tyler Perry's. “For Colored Girls” would make a wonderful first season of a cable (or TBS) drama.

Tyler Perry's "For Colored Girls" is one of those movies that follows interconnecting stories of people going through struggles. The domestically abused, the sexually assaulted, accidentally impregnated, the barren, and hopelessly devoted. Think “Valentines Day” with rape.

The movie is not unlike that of a, or, well, six lifetime films in that it's about women who don't need men. Or ...

Many of the actresses showed up to the New York City premiere last night (including Kerry Washington, above), looking lovely on the red carpet.

Macy Gray:'The Kids Used To Call Me Watermelon Head'

7/16/2010 11:37am EDT
Macy Gray
Macy Gray was teased by her peers as a kid because of her huge skull - cruel classmates dubbed her 'Watermelon Head'.

The I Try hit-maker towered over her school pals and spent most of her teens being teased for reaching 5 foot 11 inches by the time she was 12 years old. And Gray admits she was left with a less-than-flattering moniker after bullies decided to point out her overgrown head.

She tells U.K. TV show Loose Women, "I'm 5' 11in. When I was a kid - other kids find something to pick on you about, mine was my height. I've been this height since I was in sixth grade, (maybe) sevent...
