Dave Matthews Band Postpone Festival Over Hurricane Fears

The Dave Matthews Band have postponed their weekend festival in New York over fears Hurricane Irene will hit the city.

The storm has caused chaos in the Caribbean in recent days and forecasts show it is heading up East Coast. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has declared a state of emergency and advised residents to evacuate their homes this weekend, and as a result, the Dave Matthews Band have axed their planned Caravan music festival on Governors Island.

Ticketholders for Saturday and Sunday's shows can instead attend the event on Friday, before the storm is scheduled to hit.

Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood became gypsy punk band Gogol Bordello's savior on the road - when his celebrity helped save the group from a time-consuming police investigation.

The actor joined his girlfriend, Gogol Bodello drummer Pamela Racine, on tour and he quickly proved he can be useful to have around - especially when your band is stopped by the infamously thorough cops in Arizona.

Band frontman Eugene Hutz explains, "They were really determined to find some drugs, so they're searching for, like, an hour until they obviously don't find any.

Elijah Wood is single again after splitting from his longtime girlfriend, according to U.K. reports.

The Lord of the Rings actor has been dating model/musician Pamela Racine for five years since they met on the set of 2005 movie Everything Is Illuminated, which featured songs from her band Gogol Bordello.

However, the 29-year-old Hollywood star is now said to have ended the relationship.

A source tells British newspaper the Daily Telegraph, "Elijah just didn't want to settle down. The last thing he wanted to do was hurt Pamela, but she's pretty cut up about the break-up."

Madonna's Film Lands Distribution Deal

Madonna's directorial debut has landed a distributor in North America and will hit cinemas in August. The comedic drama, Filth & Wisdom, was co-written and co-produced by the ever-busy pop superstar, and it debuted at the Berlin Film Festival in Germany to mixed reviews.

Madonna initially considered releasing the film as a download via the iTunes website, but has now signed a deal with IFC Entertainment to land the project a U.S. cinema release.

The low-budget movie, about a Ukranian immigrant in London, stars rocker Eugene Hutz, his band Gogol Bordello and Richard E. Grant.

Stars Design T-Shirts For Charity

Iggy Pop, Duran Duran and Daft Punk are among the musicians who have designed T-shirts to raise money for political charity Rock The Vote. The stars have all come up with their own take on the world-famous Playboy magazine 'bunny' logo for the 2008 Playboy Rock The Rabbit T-shirt series.

The shirts will be sold at Bloomingdales stores in the U.S. and online at ShopTheBunny.com.

Cult rocker Eugene Hurtz has dismissed speculation he is a heroin addict, insisting he's no fan of taking drugs. The Gogol Bordello frontman admits he's puzzled by his reputation as a junkie.

He says, "A lot of people are convinced I'm a heroin junkie. I've actually never done that many drugs in my life. I've not done many drugs in my life. It's all adrenaline and music and a bit of alcohol."
