Lawsuit Against Robin Thicke And Pharrell Williams Over 'Blurred Lines' Going To Trial By Jury

October 31st, 2014 5:37pm EDT
Robin Thicke and Emily Ratajkowski
The lawsuit brought by the family of late singer Marvin Gaye against Robin Thicke, Pharrell Williams and T.I. over hit single "Blurred Lines" will go on.

A Judge in Los Angeles ruled that a trial by jury will be needed to decide whether or not the artists sampled music from Gaye's hit song "Got To Give It Up" and infringing on its copyright.

The three stars attempted to dissuade District Judge John A. Kronstadt from moving forward with a trial, but it wasn't enough and a trial will now be scheduled.

Last year the children of the late Gaye filed a suit claiming that Thicke, Williams and T...

Robin Thicke Was Too High On Vicodin To Write 'Blurred Lines'

September 16th, 2014 2:54pm EDT
Robin Thicke Was Too High On Vicodin To Write 'Blurred Lines'
While being interrogated for allegedly copying Marvin Gaye's song "Got To Give It Up" to make "Blurred Lines," Robin Thicke confessed to being so high he couldn't have written the hit track.

Gaye's family filed a lawsuit against Thicke, Pharrell Williams and T.I., accusing them of ripping off the song. Thicke gave a deposition in April, saying he took more credit for "Blurred Lines" than he should have, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The singer explained, "To be honest... I was high on Vicodin and alcohol when I showed up at the studio. So my recollection is when we made the song, I...

Blurred Lines Over Who Wrote Robin Thicke's Hit Single

October 31st, 2013 12:58pm EDT
Robin Thicke
Has Robin Thicke's success as an artist been based on ripping off Motown legend Marvin Gaye?

Two of the late singer's children have filed a lawsuit against Thicke over his smash summer hit "Blurred Lines," alleging that Thick borrowed heavily from Gaye's "Got To Give It Up," and now it's time for him to pay up.

Thick, along with the song's producer Pharrell Williams and rapper T.I., who is featured on the single, filed a suit in August to clear the single after Gaye's children brought up potential copyright concerns. They even offered a six-figure settlement to avoid any court battles, wh...

Opinion: Did Robin Thicke Play Copycat With “Blurred Lines”?

August 26th, 2013 10:30am EDT
Robin Thicke
If you went all summer without ever becoming acquainted with Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines”, well you must be very unfamiliar with pop culture and radio these days. You’re a ‘fossil’ basically, and I mean that in the most respectful yet humorous way.  “Blurred Lines” has been simply inescapable crowning the Billboard Hot 100 for 11 consecutive weeks.  As good as this single was for my homie Robin (his career looked like the bottom was about to completely come out from under it), it also has given him a fair some issues.  The video was much raunchier than the song itself, even if the song wa...

The American Woman hit-maker has already proved his acting chops with small roles in Precious and The Hunger Games, but if the rumors are true, this will mark his debut as a leading man....

70s & 80s Tunes Dominate 'Sexiest Songs Of All Time' List

Olivia Newton John Physical
Apparently the 70s and 80s are still major power players on top 10 music lists. Olivia Newton-John's 1981 hit "Physical" has topped Billboard.com's list of the Sexiest Songs of All Time.

"Physical" spent 10 weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100. It was certified platinum and ranked as the biggest song of the decade. Utah radio stations banned it for having provocative lyrics such as: "There's nothing left to talk about/'Less it's horizontally/Let's get into physical/Let me hear your body talk, your body talk."

To counter the song's racy tone, Newton-John made an aerobics-themed music video, ma...

It's interesting the way Ryan Seacrest framed last night's battle of the American Idol finalists, painting a major contrast between the two contestants. His list of the differences between the two singers was not simply a clashing description of two people, but a sort of rallying cry for the sections of the country each guy supposedly represented.

In one corner, Ryan gave us the clean-cut country boy from the "real" America who would just love to get your votes. In the other corner, we met the freakish glam rocker from that hedonistic land of California who does his best to com...

Overrated & Underrated Pop Duets

Sometimes one just ain't enough.

That's a line, okay an amended line, from the rarest of rock treats - the duet. Everyone loves when two pop icons team up for a single. It's just like those rare occasions when two solo wrestlers join forces for a super tag-team.

Just like its brethren in the WWE the results for pop duets are often much less than the sum of their parts. Still, each duet holds a special spot, or two, in the minds of music fans.

So it's easy to say that all duets are overrated isn't it? Well, that would be the case if it weren't for the fact that so many gr...
