Music Review: Check Out Our Thoughts On Brian Fallon’s 'Painkillers'

3/14/2016 10:39am EDT
Brian Fallon Delivers Enjoyable Solo Album With 'Painkillers'
Typically, the name Brian Fallon is associated with a certain alternative rock band, The Gaslight Album. How? Fallon is the frontman, known for his emotional, nuanced pipes. On his debut album Painkillers, Fallon may step away from The Gaslight Album but honestly, he doesn’t sound significantly different, which is mostly a blessing.

“Wonderful Life” kicks off Painkillers painlessly, infusing energy into the set early on. Fallon’s grit is terrific as he sounds invested in the “Wonderful Life” he sings about. The opener is sure to keep the Bruce Springsteen comparisons rolling, both vocal...

3 Doors Down’s 'Us And The Night' Leads Albums To Check Out
Ah, it’s the second week of March and you know what that means – more new music! No, week two isn’t quite as “star-studded” as March’s two forthcoming weeks, but there’s definitely some worthwhile new music to check out. 3 Doors Down lead the new music charge with the long-awaited Us And The Night. They are joined by a frontman gone solo and “metal heads” among others.

1) 3 Doors Down, Us And The Night (Republic)

Rock band 3 Doors Down return with their first new album in nearly five years. Us And The Night is the follow-up to 2011’s Time Of My Life, and album that debuted at no. 3 on t...

The Gaslight Anthem Land at #4 on Billboard 200 : This Week In Music

8/21/2014 9:20am EDT
The Gaslight Anthem
In a blasé August release week, Guardians of the Galaxy Soundtrack remains at #1 on the Billboard 200 selling 93,000 copies. The numbers are solid considering the soundtrack sold 109,000 copies last week (no substantial drop), but worth noting is no album moved 100,000 copies this week. The next closest album, Now 51, was distant second place, selling 52,000 copies. Ouch!

Despite sluggish numbers, there were some new debuts. The Gaslight Anthem landed at #4 with its latest album, Get Hurt. Get Hurt sold 33,000 copies, which by no means is the second coming. Troy Sivan’s numbers ar...

Review: The Gaslight Anthem Show Consistency On ‘Get Hurt’

Review: The Gaslight Anthem Show Consistency On ‘Get Hurt’
After a two-year hiatus, rock band The Gaslight Anthem return with their fifth studio album, Get Hurt. Get Hurt follows a high watermark for the band, led by vocalist and guitarist Brian Fallon. 2012 effort Handwritten easily ranked among the best rock albums that year. Get Hurt maintains consistency and enjoyability, regardless if it trumps Handwritten or not.

“Stay Vicious” opens Get Hurt in excitedly. The riffs come ‘right at your face,’ while Fallon delivers the lyrics in gritty, emotional fashion. Interesting about “Stay Vicious” is the chorus pulls back, while the verses are...

Summer continues to drag on in music circles. This week marks no difference in the trend that dominated July 2014 – generally, a lack of blockbuster releases. Still, August 12, 2014 has some interesting albums being released that shouldn’t be overlooked. 1) The Gaslight Anthem, Get Hurt (Island)

Continuing to gain in popularity, The Gaslight Anthem releases their fifth studio album, Get Hurt. Get Hurt follows up the band’s 2012 effort Handwritten, which debuted at #3 on t...
