10 Songs About Diamonds

3/5/2016 1:00pm EST
10 Songs About Diamonds From The 10s
The famous lyrics ring true: “diamonds are forever.” Well, arguably the saying “diamonds are forever” may be an exaggeration, but the song title perfectly ties in with this list of shining stars, err, shining gems – DIAMONDS! Yes, we have an epic (okay semi-epic) list featuring 10 songs about diamonds from the 10s – 2010s that is! There’s a little bit of everything – pop, rap, post-hardcore (!) and country among others. Maybe the diamonds aren’t eternal and maybe some of these songs are merely average at best, but there’s a “gem” or two sure to make your personal playlist…maybe!

Rapper Stitches Jumped 24 Hours After K/O By Game's Manager (Watch)

12/12/2015 12:00am EST
Perhaps, you've heard of Miami-based aspiring rapper, Stitches. If not, here's a clue: he's the guy who was recently knocked out by The Game's manager. New World Star Hip Hop footage emerged that shows Stitches getting jumped in a parking lot, this time reportedly by his own homies.

According to a TMZ report, Stitches, who apparently has "Antagonize The Game Whenever Possible" on his bucket list, got a lullaby when Wack 100 walloped him recently as he invaded his airspace. It was the punch seen from around the world.

Allegedly, not even 24 hours later, the "Brick in Yo Face" rapper, forme...

Pentatonix Takes The No. 1 Spot On Billboard

10/27/2015 9:38am EDT
Pentatonix Edges Demi Lovato For No. 1 On The Billboard 200
It was a close fight on the Billboard 200 this week – a slugfest – but a cappella darlings Pentatonix came out on top, barely. The self-titled Pentatonix moved 98,000 units, with 90% of those being pure sales. Demi Lovato also moved 98,000 units, though only 79% of those units were pure sales. Neither album ‘blew it out of the park’ with both missing the magical 100,000 units/copies mark, but the numbers are respectable given the current poor sales climate for music.

Examining the sales another way, both Pentatonix and Demi Lovato outperformed new releases by Machine Gun Kelly and The G...

Selena Gomez Fends Off The Game For Top Spot

10/20/2015 10:19am EDT
Selena Gomez Takes ‘Revival’ To No. 1 On The Billboard 200
Selena Gomez did it once again – debut in the number one spot on the Billboard 200. Enough folks were ‘revived’ by Gomez’s Revival to propel the pop artist’s fifth album overall (second solo album) to the penthouse. Overall, Revival impacted to the tune of 117,000 units, which is respectable. That said, only about 73% of that total (85,000 copies) is sales excluding streaming and tracks. Previous album Stars Dance was a stronger seller.

Even with Gomez padding her totals with streaming and tracks, Gomez would’ve still edged the other frontrunner for the top spot, The Game. The Game still...

There Is A Lot To Like On The Game's 'The Documentary 2'

10/15/2015 1:26pm EDT
The Game Keeps It Real On 'The Documentary 2'
West Coast rapper The Game has released many albums since his 2005 debut The Documentary. Even so, The Documentary ranks as the rapper's most notable album – certainly the one that "put him on the map." 10 years after The Documentary, The Game returns with its proper follow up, The Documentary 2. How does The Documentary 2 compare to the original? Overall it’s sensational sequel, even if it falls a smidgen short of the glory of the original. Still, The Documentary 2 is jam-packed.

Following the intro, The Documentary 2 erupts on the fiery “On Me,” featuring Kendrick Lamar and brilliantly ...

The Game, Selena Gomez And Other Albums To Check Out This Week

10/6/2015 10:57am EDT
The Game Leads Albums To Check Out
The first Friday in October brought the comeback of one of music’s iconic artists, Janet Jackson. That is a big deal without question. This week, things are much quieter. This week is the “calm before the storm,” as the next couple of release weeks are jam-packed with newbies to add to the collection. Still, there’s a West Coast rapper and a pop star/actress leading the way this week.

1) The Game, Documentary 2 (Blood Money / Entertainment One U.S.)

The Game isn’t the heavy-hitter he once was – that’s just the way it is in the music industry. Still, The Game knows how to impact the...

Does Dr. Dre Deliver After A 16 Year Album Hiatus?

8/12/2015 1:53pm EDT
Review: Dr. Dre Delivers A Gem With 'Compton'
16 years. That was how long it’s been since a new Dr. Dre album. For years, the west coast MC/producer/multimillionaire has teased the release of a third studio album, Detox. After it was all said and done – or rather upon the surprise release of Compton, Detox was scrapped once and for all. If the effort was subpar as Dr. Dre stated, well, fans came out with a victory getting Compton, an exceptional album ranking among the most thrilling regardless of genre in 2015.

“Intro” offers a brief history of Compton, hence a fitting initiation for the effort. Foreshadowing the sentiment of t...

Do These Rappers Think They Are God?

7/25/2015 1:00pm EDT
13 Songs Representing 'God Status’ In Rap
“I am a god!” Okay then Kanye – If you say so! It is no secret that one of the qualifications to be a rapper is to be cocky and confident. Face it, who wants to listen to a rapper who isn’t at least a little bit conceited? Nobody. So, this list has got the conceited part nailed down firmly, as each of these 13 songs exemplify “god status.”

What is “god status” exactly? It’s this idea that, particularly in rap, of likening oneself to God as far as status or being a figurehead, without asserting to be God himself. Because rappers are often braggadocios creatures, many have released songs...

Florida Georgia Line Captures Their First No. 1 Spot On Billboard 200

Florida Georgia Line Captures Their First No. 1 Spot On Billboar
For a third week, country rules the top spot of the Billboard 200. Last week it was Jason Aldean’s Old Boots, New Dirt (who settles for #2 this week). This week’s honors go to Florida Georgia Line who sells a strong 197,000 copies of Anything Goes. Anything Goes is the sole album to sell more than 100,000 copies this week and outpaced the second place album by more than 100,000 copies. Guess Tyler and Brian have something to celebrate – as if they weren’t celebrating already.

Even though the numbers continue to stink, there are plenty of new albums being dropped by many notable artis...

Florida Georgia Line Leads Albums To Check Out: This Week In Music

10/14/2014 9:48am EDT
2014 Billboard Music Awards - Arrivals MGM Grand Garden Arena, M
October continues to be the ideal month for musicians to drop their albums – well at least from their perspective. This week’s crop of releases, dropping Tuesday, October 14, don’t quite have the ‘oomph’ of the last couple of weeks, but there’s still at least a potential surefire hit. Normally, U2 would be a sure bet, but you have to question how much an album issued for free will sell. Florida Georgia Line seems to be the favorites this week.

1) Florida Georgia Line, Anything Goes (Republic Nashville)

With bro-country a popular trend, Florida Georgia Line’s sophomore album Anything...

10 Deceptively Written Songs

9/28/2014 4:00pm EDT
10 Deceptively Written Songs
Some songs just aren’t intended for literal interpretation. Some of the best-written songs are actually best interpreted figuratively. The 10 songs gracing this list are written cleverly, in a deceptive fashion. In other words, the lyrics (and sometimes title) transcend what’s literally being said. These 10 aren’t ‘classic’ examples – all are contemporary – but, the figurative, deceptiveness is definitely notable.

1) Hozier, “Take Me To Church" (Hozier, 2014)

Sure, the biblical book Song of Solomon is something else, but it’s highly doubtful that Hozier’s “Take Me To ...
