A venomous spider which shut down preparations for Noel Gallagher's Jersey Live festival appearance over the weekend has become a local celebrity.

The green-fanged tubeweb spider was discovered in one of the rocker's guitar cases and prompted festival bosses to quarantine the backstage area over fears the arachnid could pose a threat.

The creepy-crawly was not as dangerous or exotic as feared, but it has become quite an attraction at Durrells Wildlife Conservation Trust in Jersey, where it now resides.

British rocker Noel Gallagher caused a security scare at Coachella after authorities found his stash of sleeping pills.

The former Oasis star faced questioning after bouncers discovered a bag of 30 white and yellow pills in his backpack as he made his way into the annual music festival in Indio, California on Saturday.

Noel Gallagher is convinced his solo career will never reached the same heights as his time with Oasis.

The British rocker penned most of the songs which made his former band one of the world's biggest rock acts during the mid-1990s.

His solo act, Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, proved a hit with fans after his debut record reached the top of the U.K. charts last year.

However, he's adamant nothing he or any of his rock peers do now will ever be as successful as the now-defunct group.

The singer/songwriter, 44, will pick up the accolade at the ceremony which will be held at London's O2 Academy Brixton on February 29.

The cheeky former Oasis star says, "I would like to thank NME for bestowing upon me such a great accolade. I have dreamt of this moment since I was 43 years old. I accept that I am now a genius, just like God."

TORONTO (AP) - Oasis rocker Noel Gallagher was attacked at a concert, and the alleged assailant was charged Monday.

The British band was midway through its headlining set at the Virgin Festival on Toronto's Olympic Island Sunday night when a man rushed the band from the back of the stage. He pushed Gallagher, causing him to fall on his speakers.

British rockers Kasabian were left disappointed when Oasis frontman Noel Gallagher pulled out of a one-off collaboration at the Glastonbury Festival.
