The 25 Most Important Albums Of The Decade

December 23rd, 2009 11:43am EST
Most Important Albums of the Decade
Pitchfork and Rolling Stone and Spin and all those other outlets have their lists of the best albums of the decade, and you know what? I'm going to let them. There's no point in me trying to come up with that list because there were so many great records to choose from. Best albums are invariably marked by an editor's (or staff's) preference in music. But what about qualifying the most important? I can tell you that Bob Dylan's Modern Times was probably the best re...

Franz Ferdinand
Scottish rockers Franz Ferdinand's new track "No You Girls" features the band playing human bones. Frontman Alex Kapranos reveals a box of bones he'd bought for just $17 were inexplicably lying around the studio when the group was trying to find the best percussion sound for the song.

He tells Spin magazine, "We tried maracas, we tried a tambourine; they seemed a bit obvious... One day I picked up the pelvis bone (sic) and started rattling the collarbone inside of it. Paul (Thomson) had two shoulder blades, and Nick (McCarthy) had the skeleton's hands for clapping.

"We didn...

DC Movies vs Marvel Movies: Which Are Better?

June 12th, 2008 10:00am EDT
Dark Knight
After months of anticipation the two candidates are finally ready to square of against one another. There has quite possibly never been such a sharp contrast the American public has to choose between. One candidate possesses the mind of an intellectual while the other uses gut instincts. One maintains a trim and chiseled physique and the other uses brute strength to get his point across. One is a relative newcomer that was born in the early 1960's while one has a long and storied history having been born in the late 1930's. Are we talking about Barack Obama and John McCain? Well… I suppose ...
